Im assuming you used the smudge or blur tool when penning over the face. This is fine but there a much cleaner and consistant way to smooth over the face.

FILTER>BLUR>SURFACE BLUR is a tool that smooths out areas of similar colors (e.g. skin) while maining outlines without bluring them to much.

However if you want to be a graphic designer why are you doing image manipulating?

Another point ronnie, if you wanna be a graphic designer you really really need to stick in. In the UK there is more design students than there is jobs going. SO to get employed you have to bigger and better than the rest. THat means constant practise.

Good luck :)

That's what i thought he meant. Not a bad effort though ronnie: the one on the right looks like a right dog in comparison.

Start out small, if you selling photos try the local newspaper. Check out the local photographers and see if they can use your services. Chech local businesses and offer to do things like menus, logos, newsletters etc for a small price. Get established locally and your well on your way.

You showed a good use of a range of different tools, which is great compared to the guys that stick with the brush and smudge tools the whole ride. I've never done a makeover airbrush but from the "make-up" you put on her I can point out one thing: you picked out the exact colors and layed them over her to smooth out. That's obviously the way to do it except with the forehead, I think you kind of overdid it and picked too many of the colors from the forehead to blend together. That's realism but you're not going for realism, you're going for fake plastic beauty. So I think you should just pick the most obvious and common colors next time to make her brow look as smooth as possible, like the rest of the face which is very well done.

I dunno. I mean there's more to photoshop than airbrushing models, maybe you should try standalone painting?

Well eh... graphic design does have quite a bit of art involved, maybe now's a good time to start.

There's tutorials all over the web, and you don't need a tablet, though it helps a shitload of course. I mean I've done most of my pieces before I ever got a tablet.
