Actually I live in a fairly conservative area. More because it's just never been a problem in SoCal, now or historically. Not at school, not at work, nowhere really. This was the first time I've seen anything like this.

The extent of racism here is basically just making racist jokes that everyone enjoys anyhow :P

Possibly... and possibly folks have just learned that in CA, you had better keep some opinions to yourself unless you are in a "known" group of people.

Also, though you might not see much blatant anti-black prejudice ... I would warrant you see it in other racial/ethnic groups.
