did you see Mark Bowden's op/ed piece in the NY Times Week in Review? entitled 'Sacks, Lies and Videotape' about how the Patriots videotaping scandal is indicative of cheating all around sports.
Bowden mentions some common baseball cheats that have gone on for decades.
i imagine, in many ways -- the spitball method of cheating is to the losing pitcher what the thong might be to the batter in a slump.
anyway, not really on topic, but it's what your post reminded me of, and i thought i'd share it. article is linked below. for those of you who aren't familiar with Mark Bowden, you probably are but don't know it. he wrote
Black Hawk Down, as well as a number of other books of note, like
Killing Pablo and
Guests of the Ayatollah. He's also a true Philadelphian, having written for the
Inquirer there for almost 20 years before graduating to the glossies like the
Atlantic Monthly and
New Yorker .
