As an American, i am ashamed of the kind of arrogance i see in this thread. Nationalism of this kind is ignorant in the extreme, and the flip side of such is racism - still plenty of that here. I am thankful to live in a country of such diverse beauty, and thankful for the freedoms that we still have left, but i have a real hard time with the arrogant, materialistic mindset of most Americans. I think that it would be accurate to say that America is the most hypocritical country, and the most vocal of the nationalistic flag wavers are the ones who are raping the constitution this country was founded on.

One word: Sisu

Do you think that's unique to any country?
Which means I'm still waiting for someone to point out this unique trait that makes the USA the greatest country there is.

There you go, Serbia. Don't even try and tell me that Barry Sanders is better. :D

Barry Sanders is the best running back I ever saw live. I can say this honestly, being as I'm only 26, and never saw Payton run. However, I can respect what he's done. I'm just upset with the Lions organization, driving Barry out early. Yeah, he left on his own, said he lost his desire to play, but are you going to tell me it had NOTHING to do with the Lions perpetual losing? Of course it did. I can only hope Kevin Jones is our next Barry Sanders. Billy Sims, Barry Sanders, Kevin Jones. I hate myself for even typing that.

No, I'm going to tell you that it was Bobby Ross. 1 1/2 more months and we start all over in the NFC Norris....errr, I mean NFC North.

Sweetness was the best "all around" RB.
I'd say Barry was the best runner.
I mean NOBODY has ever had the moves that he had on the field.

Now personally I go for a Jerome Bettis style RB (being a die hard Steeler fan, I may have some bias  ):
Just line up and run 'em over.
Just ask Brian Urlacher what its like being run over by a bus.....
oh sorry...

The Bus

That was the best part about growing up watching the Lions. They never really had a shot, except for that one playoff win against Dallas back in what, '91? That put them in the Championship game, against eventual champ Washington. (another pathetic game in it's own right) But getting to see Barry run every week, that was truly fun. I just wish I had been older, so I could appreciate it more.

I think only 8 or 9 years.
12,000+ yards and a career avg per carry of over 5.

unbelievable stats.
I'm from Syracuse (where he went to college), he was also a great lacrosse player; in the NCAA Lax HOF too.

I'm pretty sure he never ran out of bounds. I also would not suggest telling him he did either.

Reading back to the beginning your arguments of court cases. Lawyers have to do 1 to 2 pro bono, (free) cases a year. In america you can represent yourself or maybe have a relative who is a lawyer represent you. Usually lawyers if your suing someone will take a third to cover expenses and make some profit.

I love America because you have the freedom to help people in need.

that's okay, just declare your independence from the generally accepted bad bump standards of elegance.

i gave blood yesterday. i will again in 56 days.

it makes me feel good. both to do something good to help out, and honestly, it physically feels good to bleed a bit. and reminds me of the 4th of July.

(actually, it doesn't. just trying to tie this all in somehow. to the good deeds bit and the celebration of our Independence from the tyranny of King George)
have you ever seen an idealist with grey hairs on his head?
or successful men who keep in touch with unsuccessful friends?
you only think you did
i could have sworn i saw it too
but as it turns out it was just a clever ad for cigarettes.
