I would tend to agree. The difference is that YOU know it is illustration & dramatization...which it is of course. I do not doubt that the general teachings of most religious texts are based in "live a good life, be nice, do unto others, etc". However it is the belief some (not you) have about the fantastic stories actually being real that amazes me.

I read Christians saying "I try to live my life as a good christian" & Muslims say "I try to live my life as a good muslim". Well, I try to live my life as a good person...that's how.
