neoconservativism

Postby khazalid on Tue Feb 12, 2008 10:29 pm

i notice a fair few of the posts in here seem to concern current american politics. none of the networks in america will show this documentary, but it was commissioned and broadcast by the bbc in spring 2004. it concerns the historical roots of neoconservative ideology in the works of political philosopher leo strauss. its a good idea to watch it if you want some corporeal background to the current rhetoric of fear and violence.

No, but I was called "neo-con" numerous times over in Yahoo! Answers and that is one of the reasons I have all but left that forum, so I could get away from it. The only times I go there is to check on the History section or a little glance at the politics section. Also considering that the term is used often and widely by many conspiracy theorists doesn't really help my opinion of the term.

i would agree, the term does probably get used a little too often, and doesnt usually hit a lot of the people that people throw it out at it. In as far as you hear a consistent view of it though, id say its fairly useful if your into things like typologies of the like.
