The Philadelphia Experiment - Mystery Files Shock Return!

Postby Minister Masket on Fri Jan 11, 2008 5:40 pm

Yup, its back. And I'm extending it from CC's hallowed halls to the world around us. And today we start with a often overlooked mystery: The Philadelphia Experiment

"Earth: A Visitors Guide" explains:
"Conspiracy theorists assert that in 1943, the American Navy tried to make a ship at Philadeplhia Naval Yard in Pennsylvania, which would be invisible to human vision and radar. But instead of disappearing from view, USS Eldridge was supposedly teleported more than 483km (300 miles) to Norfolk, Virgina, before returning with some members of its crew vanished and other deranged or with their bodies fused to the ship's hull. Repeated denials from the Office of Naval Research are seen as part of the conspiracy."

Those kerazzy yanks are at it again! Do let us know of your own opinions on this matter.

you can make up the craziest things you want, and if the target at hand (the Navy, government, Army, whatever) deny it, you have yourself a conspiracy :D

Whoever named that ship should probably be shot. It is entirely not the purpopse of military names to give you hints as to the devices' purpose.

Philadelphia experiment actually existed, but to what extent is classified. I believe there is only one guy that gave the account, and he has been shown to be uncredible. That's just from my memory though, you will have to do your own research. I believe they did do something, and something might have went wrong; but I don't think the ship teleported or shifted into another dimension. Men probably got terribly burned or even killed by high levels of electromagnetic radiation...that is what probably started the whole story. The high burst of electromagnetic energy was supposed to disrupt radar signals (I don't know about being physically invisible though and I definitely don't believe the ship teleported...do you realize how much energy and technology that would take? Teleportation destroys the thing that needs to be teleported and then you have to recontruct all the disintergrated heat signatures of all the particles back into order...that sounds a bit out of our league.)
