How about a map as in the prediodic table, the metals could make a continent, the gases another etc.

Anyway, it looks like a nice idea...A bit blandish, but interesting gameplay for the unique elements could be made, like -1 for the radioactive items, +1 for oxegen and you could make sets like 2 hydrogen and 2 oxegen could be bad and 1 oxegen and 2 hydrogen could be good.

Lot of nice game play opportunities, if you like, I could help you develope it, I'm seriously interested.

You mean like this? The idea has been tried numerous times and each time it's gotten bogged down in either a graphical quagmire (zomg, so boring looking) or a gameplay nightmare. The most recent true attempt was my own, discontinued nearly a year ago.
