This is a *very* rough draft for a Winter Olympics map idea. Please, don't judge the graphics...I just threw some stuff together to help me work out what the gameplay might be like.

Here's my initial thoughts:

Athlete's Village (olympic rings w/ a little roof on them) can attack any venue; also can attack other athlete's village (Vancouver or Whistler); also can attack Opening or Closing Ceremonies (@ BC Place)

Broadcast Centre (satellite dishes) can attack any venue; also can attack other broadcast centre (Vancouver or Whistler).

Press Centre (books) can attack any venue; also can attack other broadcast centre (Vancouver or Whistler).

Venues can attack any Bronze medal position within the venue; also, can attack Broadcast centre or Press Centre or Athlete's Village within own locale (either Vancouver or Whistler).

Bronze medals can attack other Bronze medals within the same venue; can also attack venue itself; also, can attack Silver medals above them in the same sport.

Silver medals can attack other Silver medals or Bronze medals within the same venue; can also also attack Gold medals above them in the same sport.

Gold medals can attack other Silver medals or Bronze medals within the same venue; may also attack Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

All medals can attack Athlete's Villages.

Bonuses to be based on Medal count...haven't really figured out the math yet.

Any & all ideas welcome on this. An olympic map seems like a good idea to me, just not sure if my ideas are going in the right direction.

I saw this one a little differently. I drew this up when I was asked to consider a 2010 theme to make a Vancouver map that would fly. I wasn't sure how it would work, and still have no idea what Whistler looks like, but pieced together something like this:

also http://www.atomation.com/~thazzard/fun/gva/oly1.gif shows some territory borders.

I saw it was being AOR style, more like Treasures of Galapagos. One would pick up atheltic venues, media centres, ceremony and villages, fight neutrals along the sea-to-sky and other bottlenecks.

As you can see, this one didn't make it off the drawing board and I went with the general Vancouver idea instead.

I thought of something like that too, but then thought it would be fun to throw in the medals for the events as territories, since the Olympics is all about competition for medals. But I certainly do need to think things over as to how this would work.

As this map is still in the early formation stages and cannot be considered a 'working draft', I've moved it into the ideas lounge. Once the idea has taken shape, you'll be welcome back into the drafting room ;-)
