Hope I'm posting in the right place ....

With the 2012 coming upon us and the end of the Mayan Calendar, I thougyht it would be a nice map to peruse and play.

The Mayans covers a large area of Mexico, Central and South America. There were plenty of ruins and temples to include for additional points, plus various Mayan cities and regions.

I was also going to offer up the suggestion of Mexico. between Quintana Roo/Cozumel/Isla Mujeres and then Baja California on the other side and the way they are all situated, .... just seemed like a nice map for strategy.

I've traveled through the Quintana Roo area quite a bit and it's a very unique region and some of the most beautiful beaches ANYWHERE!

Anyway ... FWIW. Just a couple of suggestions for future maps.

i like the idea do you think it should be after aztecs had pushed mayans back therefore more bonuses and you may want to include some of the smaller tribes like the tlaxcalans and tarascans therefore bigger area to cover --> more territories ---> . and maybe get bonuses for each of the tribes regions you hold just some ideas.

Great Ideas. I was just thinking basic myself. Territory, cities (ruins) coupled with the geography. But the tribal idea sounds excellent (or would it be too much history for some? thinking to myself). Even the animals of the jungles could be a part of the strategy. They worshiped a variety of entities.

I'm not a mapmaker or understand how to do it. If it's easy ... someone (please) point me in the right direction.

The Central America map (talked about on another thread) sounded/looked like a good map too ... and gave me the thought.

I think you idea(s) were very nice. Some of the maps here are quite intricate while others are basic (classic, doodle, etc.). With the Mayans, the art work would be kind of interesting too. For some reason, the online game - Zuma - comes to mine and the graphics, colors.

truthfully? Your idea would be an excellent map. Would go with the conquer theme. tribal warfare. The thought I had was just the civilization and territory. One could make due with either one. If nothing else, the playing field would/could be huge.

I wish I was a cartographer or knew graphics better. I'd give both a go ... yours -AND- just the territory and boundaries.

Just something different from the turn of the century maps involving Europe, No. America, Asia and Far East.
Heck, one could possibly spin the 2012 theme from the Mayan calendar into a map (with some imagination). Something like a game where the number of moves are finite. Whoever has the most regions and/or troops at the end ... Wins. Or maybe there's some type of mayan gods that decrease/increase ones power if they are on that, or near that, spot. Now going into an area I really have no idea how to do.

I started a Mayan map ages ago, but it never really gained traction. I spent the holidays in Chiapas and D.F. and have been thinking I'd like to restart it with some changes, but I've already got three other maps rolling along... feel free to poke your head in the old thread and make suggestions.

Well, maybe the map could have to do with stopping the world from ending? Like it could be "Race to Save the planet" and it could envolve getting to a mayan temple or something??

Oak, that map was decent, it is a shame it petered out. I would like to see an attempt either by you or someone else start up again.
