I'm studying Mayan history at the moment and thought it might be cool to do a map of the classic Mayan city states. What do people think?

A map of what that looks like would be cool. I know approximately nothing about "Mayan city states"

The were lots of major city states i am going to use 7 that will equate with continent in the classic game
Tikal
Kalakmul
Karakol
El Mirador
Copan
Teotewakan
Kamiluju
I will subdivide these into resource areas and minor ciys that were controlled

Looks nice so far, maybe get rid of some ends of rivers to open the borders down south, or get bridges at there delta.

Maritovw your right in how the name should be spealt. I alos think that because I left a white border around each of the countries he thought that they were islands.
I ahave named all the countires now and have have tentatively assigned bonus values to each contient. I have also added a couple of bridges.
I dont know wether i can do this but I would like to add a bonus for capitial cites held. Also if you win a capital off of another player then you get one army per turn from that player. until they are elimated from the game.
here is the current map.

there are a couple of unnamed territories:
- next to Palq and above Bon P
- below Coatz
another names:
- Palenque instead of Palanque
- Uaxactun instead of Uaxact
- Cozumel instead of Cozm ??
are you using some kind of abbreviature in some of the names?? because some of them just don't sound right to me.... (i.e. San L, Olm, Bon P, Palq, San b, Caret, .... )

Yes I have Abbreviated some of the names as they wouldn't fit other wise
San Lorenz became San L
Olmecs = Olm
Palanque = palq
Xcaret= Caret
Caracol =Cara
Cozumel =Cozm
Coatzacoalis= Coatz
San Bartolo =San B

Maybe its because your map is tiny, make it bigger.

Well, looking good at playability at first sight...
We need a bigger map and improved graphics, however...
And lets think about remove some unnecessary rivers, huh?

it's ok if it's big. after it's finished, it can be resized to the appropiate sizes.
