Multiple Classic Maps

The latest addition to the classic map series gave me an idea, probably already posted by 10 others, but here goes. I suggest that we have a large series of classic maps with the same underlying game play. For Example:
Political classic with different political isms for each continent, i.e., capitalism, Marxism, pacifism, anarchy, despotism, etc. Each sub territory could be famous proponents of each ism.
Galaxy classic with different galaxies for each continent, with important planets for sub territory.
Gender classic with different twists on gender for each continent, 'nuf said.
Political party classic with different political parties for each continent, i.e., greens, republican, democrat, libertarians, socialist, etc., again with famous proponents.
There are probably at least 10 different maps using the same underlying game that would be interesting.
Maybe a bad idea???

That basically makes ALL the CC maps at the moment technically classic.
I still don't understand why CC can't use a global map? Instead of using continents, you could just use UNIONS. Like European Union, NA Union, African Union, Asian Union, South Pacific Union, South American Union, and even throw in a Middle Eastern Union...
"Has-breen" game company map (Classic gameplay, satire)

Reading 423,761 postings on the "Crazy Maps & Dice" forum gave me an idea for a map.
It follows the game-play and topology of the Classic map exactly — same territories, same connections.
The theme is a washed-up game company in the new 21st century marketplace. Maybe the washed-up game company could be called "Has-breen". The regions might be:
- A small region at the bottom-right is "Historical board games". Easily defensible, but not worth much. Maybe the one territory which controls access to it is called "Law firms".
- A huge region at the top-right of the board is "Creative freedom participation games". Worth a whole lot, but hard to achieve.
- On the left of the board, a more valuable region above, and a less valuable one below. Call them "Movies about games" and "Video games market"
- Maybe a region for "PC games, now unplayable"
- Maybe a region for "Creative Commons"
This is satire, so it would be hard to create. It would take some clever writing and even cleverer graphics to make the satire work, and have the game be interesting even to people who don't get the satire. Think of "Gulliver's Travels" for a model.
All I have right now is this seed of an idea. I've planted it in the back of my head, and maybe it will flower there. But I also want to toss the idea out here, to see if anyone else wants to run with it.

Given the current climate, I expect this map wouldn't be the most sensible one to make, but I'll merge it with the multiple classic maps thread anyway...

mrbenn, wouldnt using RLorange's map for now be a good idea until one of the other better looking maps is ready to act as the official new classic?
atm i think inkclosed's map (under James Vasquez' post) looks best but it looks like it could take a few months to finish, which means that this one would be used for whatever months until inklosed finishes his

The decision isn't mine to make...
I like the idea of having more 'classic' style maps, but at the moment it seems a bit fruitless to spend time making a map that may not get anywhere at all...
By all means discuss ideas, but please be aware that there is not currently an official stance on whether more variants will be allowed or not. The proviso has to be that we are currently stuck with the two variations in play.

Great plan.
I suggested something similar back in the "Changing army circle shade" days... but what I'd really love is an option to toggle between map styles (like we can with bigmap/smallmap). Surely there's a way to switch map-skins depending on user preference? So one player could be seeing galaxy-classic, and another could be seeing mediaeval-classic, but both be in the same game?
Not only would it let us wiggle out of copyright, but it'd also satisfy all manner of map-taste pallets. Pipe-dream, or implementable? What do you think?

Damn, hadn't thought of it that way, but that is superior.
