New Map, Draft on Page one.
Posted: Thu Oct 09, 2008 10:36 pmWell, I decided to make a map finally, and after a little thought, and a good deal of trials, the only thing that worked was Europe of all places. Coincidence that it is where I am from.
Here is what I have so far. I followed the image size regulations and it turned out really small on the large size. I could swear that maps are bigger than that.
Here are the first things I need:
1. A theme, there are a good deal of europe maps, I want to set this one apart. I also need the title, which is related closely.
I was thinking of making each sea a territory, that resets to a neutral every round (a neutral 3 or so, nothing too big). And since the seas are pretty big, and will border all land territories that touch them, they will be a really convenient way of getting around.
2. Is Iceland really needed on this map? It takes up some of the room of the legend, although it is kind of unfair to have it left out.
3. Should the islands in the Mediterranean be territories, get rid of them altogether, or just pathways across? (or something else, possibly borders if the sea idea is used)
4. I currently have 2 non-playable regions, One is Switzerland, and the other is that piece of Russia to the East. I feel pretty strongly about keeping that part of Russia non-playable, because I don't like those territories off to the side. The Switzerland area is open to change, but I see no possible need for it.
5. Territories. Ukraine is definitely going to be split into two pieces, that area is way too large. Italy and Great Britain will probably be combined to fit the text in. (Seriously, the size limit needs to be increased, I have issues with it.) Any thoughts on these or other areas?
6. Bonuses. They are divide up now, not all of them by color, but by color/the colors of the regions next to them. I will be changing those too, but I did not want to get too far ahead with the first draft in case it gets rejected from the start.
