Idea for (another) world map

Hi all,

I've been working on a computer map for CC, but the whole thing is taking a while, so I figured I might start on a simpler, more conventional concept where I could iron out the basic process. I know we have 3 world maps (4 if you include Extreme), but I thought this might be a nice variant. I'd like to gauge support for this before I start on it though.

The idea is to have provinces (and so continents) as languages spoken. Provinces wouldn't be decided by conventional borders so much as the language spoken in the region. I think it could make for an interesting variant. So, what does the community think?

I've included a map I've found on the web, and reduced. This is by no means a draft or final idea, just a map showing significant language groups, and so the general layout.

As with many ideas, this could be good or it could be bad. You really need an actual draft to be able to tell. But from what you've said so far, it seems like a fine idea.

I generally agree. I dont think the theme of conqering a language would be to hot.

There are so many languages. And many minorities. Moreover the areas are not well defined between them. Some areas will be bigger. And I don't want the french language to be mixed up with a foreign language...
