I found it intersting to create a map based on a basketball field... Now I've made a lot of modifications, according to your ideas and suggestions and making it less simetric and much more competitive
VERSION 1.0: Added Press, Bench and Supporters...
Bonus
Questions:
- Too much bonus?
- Graphic modifications?
- Too Confuse?
- Any other suggestion to improve this map and make this idea grows to a map...

I think 19 is too small already... (Yes inner circle is a territory!)
So what do you think? Divide each midfield in 5 as inner shot zone? Or even better, add a long shot zone with 5 territories, put 3 territories on each midfield and redefine inner shot zone with 5?

I think it is a decent looking classic style map. I don't have much more to say right now. I would like think about it.

The colors are a bit hard on my eyes. Maybe you could lighten them just a shade?

Symetrical maps are highly, highly unsuccessful maps. They offer nothing spectacular for gameplay and they never seem to have fantastic graphics. I feel your efforts would be well spent on a better project.

I believe that a symmetrical map will be made one day that people play lots. Just because the territories are identical on both sides doesn't mean that the bonuses have to.

Well acctually they should be, symetrical structure goes hand in hand with symetrical gameplay. Other wise you end up with unbalanced play.

No, you don't, this is a common misconception, people will try harder to break the higher continents. And also I've thought of a way that the symmetrical maps could work. And besides, arms race is practically symmetrical, same amount of bonuses on each side. People play that. What we need here is a gameplay that outshines all others, how about adding an audience, if you own the audience of one side and the players of another you lose points. Symmetrical can work, it's just its got to be right.

its really fucking bright...
secondly, as gimil has stated, its symetrical, and no one likes to play those after the first time really.... (look at map movement stats or w/e its called)
thats all i got for now. you can definitely make this playable with some work though

Arms race is not symetrical. It has two sides that are not identical but play the same. I bid you good luck if you think you can find a way to make symetry work. I dont have high hopes but hope you prove me wrong

a way to make it less symetrical, is to put 3d players on it, and have each side have its own gameplay plan, yet have the bonuses about the same. That way, its not symetrical except in bonuses/gameplay

It seems like simetry is a real problem... I think I can fix the "problem" introducing players on the map... I've thought or the all-star game teams or the finals players (Boston Celtics vs LA Lakers)... Some with their specific skills... For example, Ray Allen would be in an outer shot zone and could bombard the basket on its side. A player like Garnett could bombard (rebound) in the defence Dunk zone and would had a bonus of 2 in attacking zone... Kobe would have some bonus combinations... This could be make to the map become more competitive, less simetric, as well, but not to much complicated to make it really playable... It would be no mess at all different distribution of zones over the field...
What do you think?

Are you saying that a specific player + a specific territory, would add a special bonus? Kind of like the Age of Realms map?
I love the idea.
You could also try expanding the court to include the player benches, or anything else. Though if you add the full ten players, you may need to add more territories, just to match the bonuses. Maybe even include freethrows too? You just need to find the secret to making the map all about strategy. And I think that adding players is just the ticket!

I've just thinking on all you've said, but I had one of those doubts that only with discussion can be solved... What players shall I put? The players of this year finals? Some all-star NBA Team? Some USA - Rest of the World Game? Or an all time all-star game... I prefer this one... I shall put names like Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Chamberlain, Abdul Jabbar, Michael Jordan, Irving, Bryant, Iverso, Shaq... Don't know... Give your sugestions... I'm making the new sketch with a lot of great modifications that would turn this map in a very competitive and strategic map, maybe tomorrow it's ready and I shall upload it

You can add more terittoires,put referes(judge)(3),Coach(2),Doctors,(2)reserve players(12).
just Check what one club can have in one game.

Firstly, It's your map dude. But! I would go with the best in NBA history. Ignore Europe, and everywhere else, because the NBA rules!!! The names will be more recognizable too.
Lastly, I like the best in history for another reason. It almost creates a 'collect them all' element to the map.
Aw, man! He got Jordan! Welp, better sacrifice my Jabbar to get Jordan back!

you forget the most important thing off about any sport: supporters. without supporters, you won't have the cash to pay your players. so supports should be in, and give a nice bonus. (maybe home/away team, give the home team a slighty bigger bonus (maybe more territories too), especially when holding the home team, for example:
let's say the Red team is the 'Away' Team, and the Blue team is the home team. now you have:
holding complete 'Red' team (or red side of the map, or the enemy side of the map, whatever.) = +3 bonus
same for the blue team +3 bonus
blue team supporters (like say 15 territories (home team) +3
red tea msupporters (like say 12 territories) (away team) +2
blue team + all blue supporters +8
red team + all red supporters +6
note it's just an EXAMPLE, don't take it too literaly.
some suggestions:
- add players to the map, 5 of each team and maybe also a 'referee' or something. (maybe give him a negative bonus, or an autodeploy, or whatever) the map might get more interesting while you have the floor itself as territories (attacking side and defending side) and have players on it as well (blue team/red team) holding a complete team + the opponents basket will grant you a nice bonus for example, holder the star player of one team + the supporters will also grant you a bonus for example. don't know what kind of bonusses you want but i can think off TONS, i just gave some examples, but i can make up more if you want.
- add supporters of both teams (maybe a slight differnce between the home and away players, since normally home players have a slight advantage because of a larger supportersship)
- add cheerleaders
- add media (photographers) (maybe give them a bonus while holding a scoring star player, or whatever) (so like starplayer + goal + photographer = bonus)
just some idea's maybe you like them, maybe you don't

don't you mean one-way attack? bombarding a defence zone doesn't look like much of a rebound to me.
bombarding = killing enemy and placing neutrals instead
one way attack = taking over a territory (doesn't have to be next to each other) but being unable to be attacked back from the same territory
oh btw, make sure you get jordan in, without jordan the map will suck

Well, cc is way overdue for a sports map. It is probably the highest demand map style on the site that we don't have yet. I think you are off to a good start and seem very receptive to input. I haven't had anything to add that others haven't but I'll keep track and support your efforts.

More territories, better graphics, added players and cool bonus...
Check it and say what you think

I found Intersting the game of the older players against actual, as "The Mighty" against "The Conquerors"
Of course, I added Jordan...
zimmah I found great the Supporter/ photographers and Cheerleaders idea, we may say they are part of the game, but I found the map huge that way, anyway I'll figure that out
