MURDER AT CONQUER CLUB MANSION [idea]

Ok, I've got an idea for a map but no graphics or nothing drawn up at this point and I'm not sure it can even be done. So if anybody can help with my question or even if the map idea sounds interesting please let me know.

The map would be roughly made out to be like the board game clue and I would like for the game play to be set up that way too. What I'm not sure about is how the game play would work or even if it could be done. The map part would be easy enough I think...I have never done a map before so don't know. Mostly curious to see if the game play part can be done or if anybody has any ideas on how to make a variation of the game to work.

i think it would be good map, but like you said, don't know how the gameplay would work, especially with our xml...
i like the board game, and it would be fine. i can't do the graphics though. i'll just give comments... :D

A murder mystery map would be cool. It is going to be tough to manipulate the game play so that it reflects an actual mystery since any game winning objectives are written into the code. So I think the mystery may actually be known. But, that doesn't mean it cannot be made to be fun. If anyone with xml knowledge can think of if this can be done as an actual mystery please chime in and help our friend here.

hey, any xml geeks (hehe...) out there, is it possible to have like 10 or more objectives, but it changes every time from random.org or whatever so it is not known to the players? like the game of clue. could it also always be fog of war, so like there would be clues in certain rooms towards finding out what the objective is and stuff? its kinda hard to explain, so maybe i'll quickly sketch something...... if you get what i mean, can you comment please? thanks

You can have as many objectives as you would like, but they are all active at all times. No Clue-like work is possible at this time.

It seems like it would be similar to Madness in a way. What with rooms and such. It could be interesting.

that is not what I intended by this type of game...I wanted to someway create a game play to incorporate a "clue" feel. I really do want this to stay a Risk site and I'm not trying to make it a "board game site".

I was thinking along the lines of up to 8 starting points and the rest of the spots would be neutral. you would then fight your way to a room and make a guess at the murderer, weapon and room for a win or you can choose to fight your opponents as well to get the win. after you own say 5 territories outside the rooms in the "hallways" you would get an extra troop for re-inforcement.

Could you give bonuses/penelties for 'evidence?' Throw a bunch of that on the board. I fear that is best 'mystery feel' idea. Just shape it like a mansion, and add secret passages and such. It is hard to give ideas without a map...... :-(

I can see it this way if we envision the same thing.
Place territories for people, places, and weapons all over the board, and if there is a way to xml it, have a set randomly be selected. If you control that set you get a big bonus

The objective cannot be chosen at random unfortunately.

However, you could set up 5 or 6 objectives. Say for example crusty the clown killed bart in the sewing room with the tv (that is what i get for having simpsons clue :lol: ). And control the starting positions so that each objective, while known, is equally difficult for players to achieve. And I would not restrict yourself to the clue board. The basica idea of a mansion mystery murder should work though.

The biggest challenge with my thinking would be making sure the gameplay is balanced but after some test games or something that would be easy enough.

well, you could even make it a semi conquest game, making each person have only one territory(where a person would start in clue).

Just a secoundary toughts. You could also have diffrent Mission on this map:

Eks:

Elimante Targeted Player.

Get 2 Destricped Continents. (Which no one know which you need, Requiers alot of continent tough)

A Special Number of Terriorries.

Or Deply atleast 3 Armies on Eks 17 Terrories all hidden from other players.

Are we starting to discuss a specialized conquer game? One that only works for this board? This isn't Hasboro! I can see spreading weapons, people, evidence or whatever all over the board. And getting bonuses for them too. But I hope that we aren't begining to discuss specialty games....?

Also, is anyone actually developing this map?
