That way you have each player on each team in their repsective place on the "ice" and the slots on the table top that allow the players to move could be your impassable borders. There are enough lines on the surface to create plenty of regions. You have the face off dots (9), the face off circles (5), the back of the goal line divided in three with the trapazoids (6), the creases (2), nets (2), the players (12). Even the puck and the on ice advertisement could be regions.
However it's done, I'd be sure to play it.
DarthFrog wrote:Not a bad idea, but using the NHL and it's logos I doubt you could do legaly. However, country flags you can use. Why not have the rink being the focal point, and on the side you have the pools like they do in international play, including all the hockey nations. This is a game played across the globe, so why not have flags of hockey nations around the globe? So, have your rink then:
Group A
■ Canada
■ Norway
■ Switzerland
■ United States of America
Group B
■ Czech Republic
■ Latvia
■ Russia
■ Slovakia
Group C
■ Belarus
■ Finland
■ Germany
■ Sweden
(These are the twelve nations that played in the 2010 Olympics, and their respective pools)
Each group can be a territory, and you could even add a scoreboard as well that has Home Score, Visitor Score, Home Penalty, Visitor Penalty, and Period and Time markers.
Also, if you don't want to go the table hockey way, and want to keep it to ice hockey, the benches, penalty box, scorer's box can be added as regions. Also, you could have two refs and two linesmen spread at different points on the ice to also get you a bonus if you have them. Having both refs and a full team could even give you extra bonus. Or perhaps linking the refs with the penalty boxes for bonus.

hehe... google image search for flags
