Supply Lines

I'm thinking of making a map based around the WWII supply lines.
It will be different to the existing WW2 Europe map in the following ways:
  • Less territories
  • no bombardment or other advanced links.
And the uniqueness of the map:
  • No deployable troops.

All troops will be auto-deployed from supply depots, and must be moved via re-enforcements or advances.

This is not a map to play with adjacent - unless you want to play an extremely long, strategic game, in which case you play FOW, Adjacent, No Spoils.

What do you guys think?

I strangely like the idea of a 'no deployable troops' map. I think it could work if you can sketch a draft to give me/us a better idea of what you're thinking of.

You could get close, but it's presently impossible to have a 0 deploy (except where created by negative reinforcements, a fave tactic of mine in Battle for Iraq), and that's a whole can of XML worms you don't want to get into IMO. Perhaps just simply 1 (which is possible), to represent paratroopers or airborne assault.

You could theoretically make every tert a -1, right?

I like this a lot, although it might be hard to pull off. How would you gain an advantage over someone else? Will there be "supply depots" throughout the map and not just the starting positions?

I'm working on a basic map at the moment, and will post it in the next day.
Yeah, a couple of supply caches would be a good idea, although I'm thinking that the map is best played out by outmanoeuvring your opponent, and attacking where they have no defence.
