What an ugly map! You need better graphic tools... What is that in sea, algae spread? Look at that borders, it doesnt seem real countries borders, looks like a paint of a child... Look at the red continent, or the green one.

And since you have total freedom to create borders, you could avoid excess of borders like in the light blue continent... also, could avoid tiny countries, since some regions, like the orange one, will be crowded with names and numbers.

Do you have a tip of names for countries?

ive known that it needed lots of work which is exactly what i said, i realized when putting names in it that i needed room for words so the countries totally changed and i couldn't find a program to get it to do what i wanted at the time, but i have changed the background and the countries, and added the countries, but i dont feel like getting comments from you marv, your map, SUCKS, and ive seen your stupid comments on other ppls maps that dont even look as bad as yours...... You act like the god of map makers and you are SO NOT........ if you were smart marv you would read the other post that said "it needs lots of work, im guessing about 30 hours left, if i cant get some CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, this map can be deleted in less than 1 minute. I am doing it for fun, not to please you... why dont you wait until i say "im done, what do you think" until you talk shit.. ive given up on the map and its about to be sent to recycle bin after i talk to chiefense about it

Quiet and calm down both of you, sheesh ;). Anyways, this map definitely would need a lot of work, my guess even more than 30 hours. The concept at first seems like a good one, but any execution of it thus far I've seen (not only in yours but in previous pangea maps) has been pretty sub-standard. It is nearly impossible to come up with borders and countries, and still make it playable and fun.

Remember, everyone in the Foundry is here to help. Even if may not seem like it. Marv can be harsh, but sometimes he says things others skip and dance around.

The best way to get constructive criticism is really work hard and develop a map that is slightly visually appealing at first. People will be drawn in to look closer. :)

i really dont mind ppl saying something would look better a certain way or the way i have something isn't "right"..... its his stupid mouth, ive seen his posts all over the place just running his mouth, and its annoyin because his map looks like he needed another 10 hours worked on it.... if he had spent more time on his map than trashing everyone elses, it would be played more... the pic i brought up was just to give ppl an idea on where i was.. i have changed a lot of things and haven't put a pic up yet, i was not saying "okay im done, so marv now is the time to run your mouth like a highschool kid"

Hahaha, you will make me cry!!

Dont be ridiculous.
1st, this topic isnt about my maps, if you have any complaints, post in the right place. There you can explain yourself and prove me why my maps suck. Maybe I will change them. And I think you will have another chance soon, because Im doing another one.
2nd, if you dislike my comments, ignore them. But why should I dont comment? This is a free forum, its not yours, and the map you are doing (or was doing) will not be for your use only too.
3rd, Im not commenting to please you too. What were you thinking? I only visit this site for fun, and Im having much fun just now reading again your last post.
4th, maybe you should offend also the guy that agreed me, well, his maps suck, Im sure
5th, my comments were constructive. I think you didnt understand, so I will repeat for you:
- Your borders doesnt seem real borders.
- Your sea, well...
- You can easily avoid excess of borders in continents, so you could redesign some continents, and they could have a few less borders.
- Tiny countries are difficult to put names and numbers (this was just a tip).

But again, if you qualify this as "stupid", and started to talk about my maps... ok. I shouldnt expect too much from you, after seeing that dino at the corner, that sea, and that title that is not even centralized...

Now, please continue the amazing job :!:

Only to clarify, honey. My main language is not English, you all know it. Sometimes, the single way I find to express myself is not the most polite one, but I post, even more about the foundry, because its always something I think should be talked.

And second, Im putting effort in new maps instead of simply improve graphics of the old one.

And third, I dont trash other people maps. Many makers liked a lot of my comments, the single thing they did and you are not doing is receive them in a mature way.

And fourth, I was never offending you, dont be so harsh with me, ok? But you can, with my maps, in the right topic.

i do have a question, there must be 42 countries... but i cant fit them all, in south america i had to write the names outside into the ocean and make a line go to the country i was using... i dont want to do that, i think that any map that has that, shouldn't, i dont know a way to make it big enough to read , i would have to have all the countries looking pretty much the same, no narrow ones, al just like boxes and rectangles or something

Those have new posts since the last time you were logged on, doesnt matter if you visit them or no.

About the map, this was what I was talking about, you see? Im sure we can arrange that, but so, to dont waste effort, wouldnt you like to redesign some borders first?

A question for you: are you editing an image from start? That image you suggested in first post? If so, I think this will not work... it will be more difficult to make the minor changes near the final map... I usually create a skeletal map first... Like this:

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f44/M ... lmaps2.jpg

(As you see, when I decide edit the Brazil map, it will probably not be a thaaaaat difficult task, Im just creating other maps instead. Consider doing a map like this as a tip.)

And please use the edit button, keeps the thread from getting cluttered. No need to make 3 consecutive posts. ;)

okay i keep everything saved, i have the picture i used to start the map saved the map colored in, and the ones with countries, so it would take nothing to redo the countries.......

Whats my next step, what i am working from now is the continents and oceans colored in

Seriously, consider making a map easier to edit, or you will become crazy later... its the best tip. The way it is now, I doubt you can change a single texture, it would be a lot of effort. You need something more simple to edit. Take some effort now and save much more later. So, when people complain about one continent that should be a bit lighter, or something, you can do it in minutes.

Edit: and the next after it will be find some more realistic borders to use, and textures.

I suggest really getting to know a program then, before diving into map creation. Really go out and experiment with it. Look of tutorials and check out forums for more help. Most of the maps around here, were created by people who had some practice under their belt, when it came to making and editing maps in such programs.

Yeah, but skeletals you can make even in paint. Look at this India skeletal, see how simple it is.

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f44/M ... ndiask.png

To make it, I used the pencil over the border, and then the eraser both in and out it. When you make an skeletal for a continent that is adjacent, put the old one together, so they will match perfectly later... Look again at that Brazil skeletal map. And when I need edit only a region, I delete others (5 clicks in Paint - for this they are in different colours), get it, edit, then I copy and paste over the same region in the map, and its perfect, matches well with the others.

I know, my borders never look really good, its the way I create the maps, its the negative side, but is how I know to do.

Edit: oh, I forgot, my maps suck
