Oh, well that's better. In that case you'll have to ask for help from someone else though... someone who can afford a copy of Photoshop. :P

I just downloaded the trial version, so I will probably be going GIMP sooner or later ;-)

DarthFrog wrote:Okay, so I have updated the bonus structure for the rats/cheese/traps since I can't remove the auto-deploy.

Changes:
  • Traps: Changes from +2 Auto Deploy to -2 Auto Decay.
  • Rat+Cheese+Trap: Changes from removing auto deploys to +2 Bonus.
Explanation:
  • The Cheese/Rat/Trap bonus can be set up to work in a way like Age of Realms maps where they stack.
  • Because there are only two traps on the board it gets an auto decay
  • Holding all three is +2 to offset the -1 of holding just the Rat+Trap.
  • The negative part of this is that the bonuses could end up being confusing.

I don't think you need to offset the negative. Conquer Man is coded so that you get a negative if you hold a ghost and a diamond, but if you hold conquer man too you get +5. I'm talking out of my butt a little here, because I haven't coded a game since high school, but take a look at the Conquer Man bonus structure to see what I mean.

p.s. You're welcome for the plug. :-)

I like the bonuses for the traps, cheeses and rats. Very nice, but you're right that they could get confusing. Shouldn't add more combinations.

What's up with that one-way attack? I think you should have very good reason for that, and I see none.

Orange appears as large as pink and purple. Should probably be +3 as well? Certainly it's closer to those than yellow (also +2).

Looking forward to playing :-)

Well in that case you'd better start using GIMP right now, since you won't be able to use PS - the trial period is not long enough to finish your map. The sooner you start learning GIMP the better.

The one way attack is to connect two small regions together without busting down a wall which would give two winning paths if you will. It doesn't need to be in there, and I could split yellow into two different bonuses. But I really want to keep the decision of the player to either go for the winning path or the region bonuses. To have a small region along side the winning path defeats that purpose. That map isn't very tricky to be honest, so much forward movement, and only have to watch for dead ends. The one way threw in a little extra fun, and with only the one, I figured it didn't take away from the entire feel of the maze.

Orange has 10 regions and a single border to protect. All bonuses are pretty low because of the low border count. Purple only has one border as well, but from the enterance point, you have more options, and it will be more complicated to clean it up, so it gets more bonus. And Yellow gets the two because of the one way, so while smaller, you need to make sure you go in the right way to get the bonus.

Yeah, will have to keep that in mind when I try to figure out the coding side of things. However, Conquerman is straight forward, while the stacking bonuses (a la Age of Realms) may get more complicated when calculating all the bonuses.

Good points DarthFrog, I understand your reasoning.

However, I still feel the orange bonus is low. How about adding another one-way 'mouse-hole' from win path into orange, and upping orange to +3?
Would make the first mouse-hole less of a 'freak' incident, and make orange bonus fair IMO.
