Football (Soccer) Riot
Theme:
Hello everybody. I have an idea for a new game based on a concept of football (soccer) riots. The action would take place within a stadium. The goal: the hooligans have to break through several layers of security in order to conquer the center field and two opposing goal posts.
Concept:
There are 6 hooligan groups on terraces (North hools, East hools, etc or nicknames: Bulldogs, Vandals, etc). Each is a starting point (icons: bottle, rock, baseball bat, knife, brick, wood plank). Each hool group is separated by fence (impassable) and passable gate w/riot police. Riot police (icon: helmet ) starts neutral, and is heavy w/troops
(almost impassable, say 10 or 15+ troops each riot police territory). If not fully conquered in one turn, riot police territory auto redeploys to full troop count next turn.
To break into the field there are several rows of security. Security guards (icon: florescent vest), weak, 1 neutral troop, easy to break through. Then, a row of regular police (icon: police hat), stronger, 3 neutral troops. After police there are several anti riot fences and safety ditches (impassable) and several paths in-between.
Last layer before the field are auxiliary neutrals: home team bench, visitor team bench, 2 ambulances, 2 water-hose fire trucks, 2 ball boys, 2 photo journalists, UEFA delegate, police chief (12 territories total, each with own icon), 1-2 troops each.
Football Field:
2 Halves, Home Team (icon: Blue striped jersey) and Visiting Team (icon: Red striped jersey). Each team has 10 territories (icons numbered 2-11, 3 neutral troops) + goal keeper (icon # 1, 5-6 neutral troops). Goalkeepers can bombard any territory on the whole field.
Corner flag territories (4) (icon: small triangle flag, 3 neutral troops), can bombard any territory on their respective half of field, no possibility to conquer from
corner flags.
Surrounding center field are Refs territories (6). There are two kinds of refs: yellow card and red card (icons: black jerseys + yellow/red card). Refs are a negative element; lots of neutral troops, holder gets negative auto deploy (e.g. –2 or -3 troops next turn)
Center field: 2 territories (icons: blue and red checkered soccer ball), object of the game, neutral, ? # of troops.

Tell me if this seems like an interesting idea worth developing, or any suggestions. Also, if plausible would anybody be willing to help with graphics and code. I used to do some graphic design & web design (college), so I know a little, but got rusty in the meantime. Also, my software is rusty (no advanced photo software). Do you know of any reasonably good freeware that can do layered images (Mac compatible)?
I'm working on a draft image, but it's taking lot of time (free software, but can't do layers.
I would like to know if I should keep working on it?
