Greater Toronto

Postby ustation on Fri Oct 02, 2009 8:33 am

What about one for Toronto? This is my first newb post/proposal so please excuse me if I'm not following proper protocol.

Here's a link to a map of Toronto Riding elections (names are all on there). All we'd need to do is add the Public Transport.

http://www.keebler.net/blog/2008/09/24/ ... -election/

Greater Toronto is Comprised of several burbs: Toronto proper (which can be broken down to: North York, East York, Beaches, Midtown, Etobicoke, Scarborough or into the individual ridings), Mississauga, Brampton, Richmond Hill, Markham, Pickering, Oshawa

Regions would be:

Brampton +3: West, Springdale, Bramalea, South
Mississauga +2: Erindale, South, Cooksville
Etobicoke +3: Lakeshore, Centre, North
North York +4: York West, York Centre, Willowdale, Thornhill
Toronto +7: Weston, Parkdale-Highpark, Trinity-Spadina, Centre, Danforth, Beaches, Eglington-Lawrence, Don Valley East, Don Valley West
Scarborough +5: Southwest, Centre, Agincourt, Rouge River, Guildwood, East
York Region +3: Vaughn, Oakridges, Aurora, Richmondhill, Markham
Durham Region +1: Ajax-Pickering, Whitby, Oshawa

Own any 3 of the city halls will earn an extra +1. Own all the city halls = +3

here's another map that gives the regional concept: http://www.region.durham.on.ca/default. ... Footer.inc

If I ever attempt a map, this would be the one I would start with.

It's more a good idea for a map than a properly working draft.
The Ideas Subforum is more appropriate for the time being. ;)

Drafting Room Guidelines

To be considered a Working Draft a project must be more than just an idea; a Draft should have a clear thematic focus, a plan for how the gameplay will work, and a basic image which should include:
    1. Territory Labels - temporary names or numbers will suffice, and are always open to change.
    2. Borders/Paths/Impassables - it should be made clear where territories do/do not connect.
    3. Bonus Areas - where combinations/groups of territories will award a bonus, this should be indicated on the map.
    4. Legend - speculative bonus values and explanations of any attack rules or gameplay features.
Draft images should not be larger than 630x600px (small image) or 840x800px (large image).

Here's another diagram. http://www3.thestar.com/static/googlema ... ntario.xml

I'll take a shot and see what I can do myself as well.

Keep in mind this idea was abandoned not too long ago.

If you're going to call it the GTA, it needs to be geographically true - that includes all regions and municipalities; not just election ridings.

I would be nice to see a map of the GTA especially since it has a population of about 5 million. To make it interesting you could include the various expressways (401 & 400 & 404 & 427 & Don Valley). However to make it realistic a player would have to lose armies by holding Toronto since the property taxes are higher and mayor Miller likes to tax and spend :) Anyone playing the map would want to leave Toronto for the burbs.
