This idea popped into my head recently while talking about some of the games we used to play in school. One game popped into my mind as a potential CC map. I have no idea what the original name is however, and despite searching I found nothing similar to this idea, so if it has been suggested, or if there is a official name for the game please tell me.
Anyways the game was played on a piece of paper. It was a grid, which could be adjustable. The playing field was only made with dots. How the game worked is each player takes a turn and draws a line connecting one dot to another. You could only connect vertically or horizontally. If you happened to make a square, then you claim that square and you get an extra turn. The winner was the person who had the most squares at the end.
How I can see this working into CC would require some changes. For starters each dot would be an area. You would only be able to attack other squares next to you. If a player forms a square (2x2) he would then get a bonus, which might be as little as a single troop. Now as an added twist I think you should get bigger bonus' depending on how big of a square you control. For the larger squares it would require holding control of every dot within that square.
A 2x2 square would give a single, while a complete 4x4 square would give a much bigger troop bonus of around maybe 6.
While this could become objective based like the original game, I believe it would work best as a normal map.
