Cocos Island/Jurassic Park

Postby Industrial Helix on Sun Aug 30, 2009 2:38 pm

So apparently there is this island off of Costa Rica named Cocos Island, its uninhabited, and also served as some inspiration for the book Jurassic Park.

So I was wondering what everyone else might think about a dinosaur island themed map?

Obviously Jurassic Park is copyrighted, so that kind of throws the name out and any potential storyline ties out as well. But no one has copyright on a dinosaur island... or a dino zoo. Jurassic Zoo?

Story: You've landed on the Triassic Zoo Island with a mission to steal dino DNA for your own zoo. However, several of your competitors have also landed with the same intent. Unleash the mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex or spear them with a Triceratops! Destroy all opponents or hold 5 dinos to win!

Ok... just drew this up a second ago...

ok, obviously its a bunch of dots withpoorly drawn dinosaurs so here's the legend

Legend:
Squares... starting places.
Gray dots... pathway, 1 neutral
Orange dots... gates, 3 killer neutral
blue dots... dinos, depends on the dinosaur but some sort of neutral.

T Rex - Plus 5 auto-deploy, can bombard any dino in the same block.
Triceratops - Plus 3, can attack adjacent dinos
Compy - Plus 1
Pterodactyl - Hold 3 for plus 2, can attack any other Pterodactyl
Raptor - Plus 3, can attack any dino in same block.
Brontosaurus - Plus 5
Stegosaurus - Plus 2

I don't dislike it. You'll want to make the paths less linear, I think, but this has the making of a very interesting map.

Yeah, I just threw the map together with no real regard. I envision winding trails and large sectors with subtrails through the dino areas.

I was thinking a couple of months ago how surprising it is that we don't yet have a dinosaur themed map - and no serious attempts to my recollection. I would fully support such a map because I think it is a great untapped theme.
