You're sure to fall in love with Olde Cape Cod

I have a draft map ready for Cape Cod. To where do I send the JPG file?

This map has lighthouses as bonuses and features some interesting one and two-way attack paths.

Please advise.

You post it here. You can upload it to something like photobucket and use the url to show it over here.

Ahoy,

Here are a few links for you to read and explore to famliarize yourself with the Foundry MapMaking Process and how your map topic should be.

How to Make a Map
Suggested Map Making Tools
Mapmaker's Guide to the Galaxy (under construction)
A How To Guide: Giving and Receiving Feedback.

You can always host your image files on something like imageshack.com or photobucket.com or flickr.com --- etc, and then use BigImg tags to show it in the forum.

OK...took your suggestion and put the image up on photobucket. Please have a look at this. I am not a developer so someone else would have to take this to fruition. But I'm pretty proud of it and have tested the idea with several other players. What do you think??

Thanks.

Well if you got the map this far already, i think you're capable of taking it the whole way.

I have a ton of nitpicks, but I'll save them for if/when the map goes to new drafts.

I say pursue it yourself, there's nothing real special about being a developer. You just need to stick with it and follow the map.

Thanks. I was sure there would be nitpicks, and I'm glad for those. What I'm interested in is a general first reaction. Is this worth pursuing, either by me or some by having someone else follow it up?

I think Cape Cod has an interesting geography, it's a legendary vacation spot (increasingly for Europeans given the exchange rate), and I hope that the added feature of lighthouses (and how can you not think of lighthouses when you think of Cape Cod) as bonuses adds some intrigue.

With regards to developing...to me it's easy to do this artwork but will I need to learn (or re-learn in my case) programming?

Thanks again for your input....

I think its worth pursuing. It's a smaller map which CC has, but I think can do with more. Plus it helps to develop this coastal theme, others being Puget Sound for example. I'd play it for sure.

As for programming, I havent reached that stage yet but after a quick look through the xml guides on CC it seems like it should be feasible even for someone with little to no experience in programming.

All,

Thanks so much for the encouragement. I hope someone will take this on. I will be glad to share the credit. I just have too much on my plate. Any spare time...I'd rather put into enjoying CC (both the game CC and Cape Cod) than programming this.

Won't someone step up?

Thanks...I'd hate to see this idea...er...float out to sea...

I love the idea. It might be fun for you to use the actual ferry routes for the Vineyard and Nantucket. For example, you could have Falmouth connect to the Vineyard. Maybe add Chappy and have it only accessible via MV. I'd love to see a little ferry or two near the islands.

Makes me want a lobster roll!

Very nice looking map. However, if Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket form a zone for a bonus of two, then perhaps they should be the same colour, just as all the other zones are made of one regions sharing a colour.

Thanks everyone. But will someone carry this idea forward? I cannot take on the programming. Seems a shame to let this die on the vine...

I can do the programming, I think. I haven't done any xml yet, but it looks simple enough to try. Are you willing to do the visuals for it? My graphics skills are minimal to non-existent, but I feel I can learn the programming.
