Westeros

Postby the_shaet on Mon Feb 16, 2009 1:40 am

I want to do a map of the seven kingdoms, from George R.R. Martin's seires A Song of Ice and Fire. I know it's already been tried, but it's always failed. I have no idea how to make a map, but I would be willing to learn JUST for this. The seven kingdoms could be the "continents". Does anybody actually have a list of the seven kingdoms? I've read the series twice and never actually found what all seven are. There's Dorne, but what are the other six? The North? The Vale? I don't know.

Anyway, all the cities listed on the main map of the books would be the "countries" plus maybe a couple others. I was thinking maybe you could get bonuses for having certain amounts of the "key" cities, like Winterfell, The Twins, Riverrun, Harrenhal, King's Landing, Casterly Rock, and Sunspear. Something like that. Also, there could be something special for the wall. Maybe make a smaller zoomed in "sub-map" to have all the castles, each with a special bonus, or something like that. Maybe some other special things.

I'd be willing to turn this over to someone else. Really, I don't really know what I'm doing, so I'd appreciate any help, from fans of the series or not. I just think it's such a great series, and such an obvious map. So anyway, please help.

From the official website http://www.westeros.org/, I found the list of the seven kingdoms.

Quote:

"The Seven Kingdoms usage of course dates from the time of Aegon the Conqueror. At that time, there was the King in the North (1), the King of Mountain and Vale (2), the King of the Rock (3), the King of the Reach (4), the Storm King (5), the King of the Iron Islands, who also ruled the riverlands (6), and the kingdom of Dorne, which was ruled by a prince (7)." I don't know what "The Rock" is and I think it might be better to split the riverlands and the Iron Islands.
