You mean together? Don't we have a big problem with the gap in the middle called Israel?

The problem with maps of that area is that is is such a controversial area.
If I remember correctly from another thread about this idea, this map would be difficult to make without offending people. Some countries recognize Israel as a country, others don't. People disagree over which country controls which area, and assigning any specific area to a country would cause problems because lots of people will disagree with what you choose.

If you choose to include Israel, you get a lot of people posting to complain that Israel is not a country, that it should be part of another country.
If you don't include Israel, you would get lots of people asking "what did you do with Israel", because many other countries see Israel as a real country and would be mad that it isn't included.

Thats just one example, but I think you can get my point. I think the borders would be too controversial for this map to proceed easily.

Who doesn't believe that Israel is a country?

At what point do we say someones feelings is given equal or greater weight to say the recognized status of Israel by say the United Nations, the United States, Great Britain, China, or Canada (they are a G8 nation).

If the map doesn't work, or if its just plain uninteresting, which is pretty much the only thing that matters, too bad... but to say lets not do it because someone might be offended because CC is recognizing a real nation seems... wrong.

I also noticed Taiwan on the World 2.0 map - now here is a country that officially many countries do not recognize... but thats okay? Or is okay to upset the Chinese nationalists among us but not the... sorry who are the Israel deniers?

I know that this isn't your opinion but from what you remember from a previous discussion.

Again, if it looks like a good map that is interesting.... seven tunnels to Egypt... etc then lets see it.

There are lots of places, mostly within the middle east, that don't recognize Israel as a country.

Just a note, Oaktown locked the original thread to prevent all the arguments that were about to happen.

EDIT: and there have been plenty of comments from mods and CAs, including Andy and Lack, about the controversy around israel/palestine. Search the word "israel" in the map foundry and you could find quite a few posts about it.

So thats 34 against and 159 for Israel. I guess we should let the 34 outvote the 159... I mean what is equality if not letting the minority be the majority... ROFL.
