Riggable's Great Summit Race! Game

Postby riggable on Fri Apr 11, 2008 10:09 pm

Hey everybody, I'm sure some of you have read my "Riggable's future games" thread and know that I am coming out with two new games. Well, this one is the first of them! This one is one I stole from a different forum game, but changed the rules around a bit, I don't think its ever been played on conquerclub before, and it should be a fun and quick game for all! Without further ado:

The Great Summit Race!

Back Story:
You and several of your friends(opponents) have decided to start a wager amongst yourselves. You and your friends are going to race to the top of the largest mountain on the continent(Kilamanjaro, Everest, throughout the game this mountain will remain nameless so you can have be whatever you choose, its not important) with the winner winning a considerable amount of money.

Gameplay:
Each player starts at the same point at the bottom of the mountain and they all are trying to race up the mountain the fastest. The game is set up like this: There are waypoints going up the mountain, each around a days worth of hiking apart. Every person each day is racing to get up to the next waypoint the first. The distance between each of the way-points of this climb is known as a "leg" of the journey.
So when the game starts off, every person will be at Waypoint 1. The day progresses and each person races to waypoint 2. As soon as you get to the way point you are safe for the day and can rest and relax until the next day's hike.
However, AND THIS IS THE MOST CRITICAL PART OF THE GAME SO LISTEN UP!, the LAST person to make to the next way point each day is ELIMINATED from the race and is no longer competing. Therefore, you have to make it to the next way point fast enough that you ARE NOT the last person to arrive.
This continues each Leg of the journey, with one person being eliminated each day, until there are only 2 people left at the last leg of the journey, and then whoever makes it to the summit first, WINS!

Rules:
So you make be asking "well how do I assure that I am not the last person to each way point?"
Well, I'll tell you:

Each person will be given a certain amount of "ENERGY POINTS" (everyone gets the same amount)

There are two phases, the night phase and the day phase.

During the Night Phase, everyone will PM me the amount of "ENERGY POINTS" that they wish to use during the next day's hike.

During the Day Phase I will post however many "ENERGY POINTS" each person decided to use for that day's trip.

The person who used the most would get to the next Way-point first, the person who pledged to use the second most would arrive there second, and so on and so on until The person who used the LEAST amount of "ENERGY POINTS" would arrive there last.

The person who uses the LEAST amount of "ENERGY POINTS" each day is ELIMINATED from the Race.

This means the trick to the game is to judge just the right amount of "ENERGY POINTS" used so that you DON'T come in last place, but also so that you DON'T RUN OUT of "ENERGY POINTS" before you reach the top of the summit.

Thats it! its a pretty simple concept, but I think it will cause some major fun and nervousness in terms of game play.
The real trick of the game, as I said before, is to use the least amount of "ENERGY POINTS" possible each day to still stay alive but also save as many as possible for later in the race. You can talk amongst yourselves during the day AND night phase, trying to figure out what a good number of "ENERGY POINTS" you should use each time.

So, I'll start a a sign-up list. As many people who want to sign up can, although I'll probably shut it off at around 15-20 people, so the game doesn't drag on forever.

and also, I have two questions that I'll ask the people who sign up for the game, and those are these:

How many "ENERGY POINTS" should each person be alloted? The more people sign up, the more there should be.

also, what should I do in the case of a tie? the two posibilites are: a 1 round rock-paper-scissors game between the two last place people, sent to me over PMs, and the other on is to have random.org decide. Your choice.

So, people, please, you don't want to be left at the bottom of the mountain.

Interesting. I'll play, and I have no idea as far as energy points go. I'd rather to the RPS game though.

It'll start as soon as I get enough players :) My battle Royale game filled up in a day or so, I'm not sure if this will be as popular as my battle Royal Game.

IN! I'm really glad I got here so soon; this is going to fill up fast. It seems the more unique mafia games fill up faster, because people are looking for something fresh. Finally, another kind of game!
I'm looking forward to this... Seems like a lot of fun, and not as much re-reading of pages as in mafia.

I think there should be more energy points depending on how many people play, because of course there will be more rounds. Perhaps about 10 points per player in the game, rounded to the nearest 50?

As for ties, here's one idea you might want to try:
If two people expend the same amount of energy one day, the winner is whoever got the "most rest" the last night-- namely, whoever got to the previous waypoint first.

Any chance of increasing the amount of players? If so in.
I'm pretty sure there's a lot more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good looking. And I plan on finding out what that is.

The general premise seems simple enough where I think most people can handle it...

Guess what, You're all in!

Joodoo, i wasn't sure if your response was an ask to be in or not so if you want to, you're in, if not just say so.

I'm looking from anywhere from 1-6 more people, so you can still sign up, The more the merrier.

This looks like fun. In please!

(number of players)*10 seems like a good amount.

I like Ditocoaf's suggestion: the person with the least total Energy Points left 'loses the endspurt'. If that total is also equal (for instance, in the first round), just have multiple people lose that round. The game might be over a bit quicker than anticipated that way, but it's the fairest way to go about these things IMO.
