I'd like to LoVo but I'm in too many games at the moment. If you really need someone, let me know, but I really shouldn't join any more games.

I've never played an online game of mafia, but I have played several games of werewolf (the other version, the only real difference is the names) in real life.
Does this count as enough experience to play in your game, or should I wait for another one?

I've read a list of rules in the sign up threads, and barring special roles, it's more or less like normal mafia/werewolf, except you have to be more careful to make your vote properly than you do in real life.
Also, you're saved from any real howlers of mistakes/slips by virtue of having to type everything.

Thanks for letting me in.

I learned to play mafia in a Sociology class and started playing here afterwards, the experience is helpful but the roles are very different and at first it's a difficult adjustment but you'll get used to it.

Just read the roles often and maybe browse a few threads here/play a game with newer players and you'll be fine.

Thank you, I shall. Should I trawl through an entire 'day' to get a feel for it, or is reading the rules post enough for now?

You may know this already, but Day One isn't going to tell you what the game really is like. Read a few days, so you can see the real evidence emerge.

As I'm in a couple of really big ones, I'm going to have to let this one go for now. I may sign up if I get nightkilled left, right and centre :)

Entirely up to you, I'd say read as much as you can stomach but don't go crazy, you don't need to read a whole game or anything. Oh and I wouldn't waste my time on reading any day 1's, they are pretty much random spam that ends in a bandwagon every game.

And something that helped me learn the roles was going through the alive lists of games and identifying the roles of the dead players (ie, knowing the role's actions and alignment).

Good luck to you, it's way harder to tell when someone is lying when you can't look at their face.

Of course, there have been a few cases recently where it was really easy... :)

I never played face to face, but I guess one particular challenge if you're scum, is that everything you say, is recorded. Geeting away with contradicting yourself must be a lot harder.
