I'm unconvinced that we need to rush into a lynch. I think we have enough information that we can have leads to go on tomorrow.

While it may be true that the Sker doesn't kill, given that the SKer has to eliminate everyone and each night that he/she doesn't kill is an extra night for the cop or mafia to target them, it doesn't give a lot of reward to hold out on Night 1.

Assuming the SKer does do that and then fakes a vig claim, then a smart town would demand no more night kills or only nightkills on guilty people. Deviation from that would result in SKer death. So yeah, vig isn't a great fake for Sker unless it's LYLO, and I don't see the payoff being too great with holding fire for Night 1.

Still, if we have a Sker and if they want to withhold fire, that's fine with me.

As I prepare for nightfall, in slightly more than 11 hours from the time of this post, I just wanted to make everyone aware of the following. I want to avoid confusion, if it arises. Plus this serves as a good reminder that deadline is looming.

Note: For this and any future mod posts or scenes, references made to the element IRON is in NO WAY intended to refer to the player IRON BUTTERFLY. The elements gather. Thirteen in total. While their electrons are visible, their protons are conveniently hidden from sight by each elements electron cloud. Damn Schodinger. Some elements are trying to find targets, others are trying to avoid being targets. Regardless, all elements engage in the day one discussion.

The elements make their sidelong, initial glances at each other and think to discuss a topic, the metals, not relevant to the problem at hand. “Did you hear that copper and tellurium are dating? They’re CuTe together.” It also appears that iron was stuck for a long period of time on a Ferrous Wheel at the fair. But this sort of side chatter only lasts a few minutes.

The elements quickly move their conversation from pleasantries to the impending coup by the nonmetals and the potential of a serial killer on the loose. Who are those metalliods? How many of them exist? Is fluorine at this meeting?

Some elements stay grounded through the discussion. Some are excited, their electrons aflutter. But finally, after some quarky behavior, they settle down to seriously discuss the thought of destroying an element. After all, there happens to be a mass spectrometer right here in the laboratory.

Accusations are made. Some are defensed, some are deflected. But at the conclusion of this day, the elements couldn’t decide. No element will find an ugly death starting at the injection port and ending with the detector of the mass spec. The instrument will lay idle for now.

But in the back of every elements mind, both metalloids and nonmetals alike, regardless of the outcome of today is just one question: “Is fluorine here?”

Night falls now. Please, no talking in the thread until day breaks. PM me any night actions you may have. Day 2 will begin in on October 15, at 10 PM EST. That’s 2 days from now.

**Mod note: Any day when a lynch is reached, there will be a TWILIGHT SCENE. The scene is designed to recognize the lynch, but acknowledge that the actual lynch scene won’t be posted until about 10PM on the day of the lynch. During twilight, the lynched player is dead and may not speak. Other players may speak as normal.

Since Day 1 ended at deadline with a no decision, there was no twilight scene.**

Day 2: Metalloids Suffer a Setback

The elements awake in the morning with good intentions of declaring a case. Some feel an increased pressure, some feel a decreased volume, still others feel the room get warmer. Nonetheless, most of the elements are feeling less than ideal. They know that if they continue not reaching decisions about who may or may not be a metalloid, the interlopers will take over their small side of the table and all is lost.

As they rouse, they mentally take role call, looking to and fro, and notice that an element is missing. Where is he? Then it hits them, every element all at once. The buzz of the lab’s mass spectrometer is breaking the normal silence that accompanies most other mornings. The elements realized the noise because the instrument was just powering down, the change in background noise indicating that it has completed its cycle. The unfortunate element has hit the detector. The only two things left to happen is the fourier transform and the printer to print the results of whatever horrible thing has happened in the middle of the night.

All of them immediately look at the printer that is connected to the mass spectrometer, and hear it start its printing run. One page is all that prints out:

Analysis:

3 isotopes
Mass of 28 – 92.2297% abundant
Mass of 29 – 4.6832% abundant
Mass of 30 – 3.0872% abundant

The elements can now confirm that Iron Butterfly, Silicon, Mafia Godfather has been killed during the night. The evidence of which every element is now looking at. Even though this is a metalloid, every element looks pale because they all know that this could have been their fate. This battle for the right side of the periodic table is going to have casualties.

Nervously, the elements look around. With this new development, they just can’t seem to get comfortable. They look for things that don’t make sense. Nothing seems to be out of place. There is something that may look funny in the radiation box. An Erlenmeyer flask seems to be filled with something. But was it there yesterday? It may have been there, it may not. Are people overanalyzing things because of the loss of silicon? All sorts of things are left out in the lab all the time. And no one can really verify anything about it. Should they be nervous every time something so small may be out of place?

As the elements recover from the action that happened during the night they decide that they need to call I.U.P.A.C, the governing body of the periodic table, to tell them that there is now a vacated box where once Silicon resided. It looks like the metalloids aren’t making any headway into the nonmetals place on the table. This may be harder than the metalloids originally thought.

“Let’s make that call, and get this day under way,” an element suggests.

Please note that day 2 is just 10 days long.
Deadline for day two is October 25 at 10 PM. That’s 10 days from now.

haha still awake! great news but what could this mean? iron got killed by fluorine and the mafia target saved by a doc or roleblocker?
or fluorine didn't do anything and a busdriver changed iron with the town target?

these seem like the most probable?

anyway, i see again that my first instinct was correct and that i get carried away... on the rpevious games i had with iron we are usually finding each other scummy and he didn't even OMGUS me or anything this time. will be interesting to have a little reread on day 1. can we prod players like gillipig that are completely inactive since ages?

one thing sam: i will be on holiday between the 25 and 5, going to brazil, and will most probably not be able to post during that timeline..

I would think SK made the kill but there was nothing in the flavor to suggest a block or doc save (there cant be a busdriver in this setup) so I'm unsure why scum was killed (not that I'm complaining!). if there was a doc they should remain silent but if there was a roleblock i think we are in a good enough position for him to come forward.

does it mean anything that IB was in blue as opposed to the typical mafia red?

godfather being in the game eliminates TTTT and TTT. Also note that the wiki page says mafia/SK kills should be indistinguishable for what thats worth.

the use of the radiation box makes me think that IB was not scum. he was merely framed after death. i know that this doesnt fit with the JK9++ setup, but it just seems to good to be true. so we either have some crazy not-really-jK9-but-like-JK9-setup, or we have an SK. or a suicidal scum?

most definitely!!! I'm sure you nailed it again vodean!!!!!!! EVERYTHING proves it's gotta be it, woooww!!!!
the good thing about vodean is that no matter what you've witnessed him saying, he is always able to surprise you one way or another. (oh and the setting is c9 not jk9 just so you know..)

yes, for example in matrix mafia I was merovingien, the frenchman. it might be pure coincidence or just something mods do inconciently. Anyway it's a type of lead you can use like any other on day one (cases are always dumb on day 1!) and i sticked to it for a while and dropped it because of hippo. And iron wasn't in his meta towards me this game, he was defending me a lot this time, probably to make me look scummy.
