Chap, you said you had some experience. Just how much exactly are we talking about here?

And I'll agree with those who say that kill doesn't seem to be the intended target. Killing shield of all people just doesn't seem to connect to any line of logic. I'll see if I can drum up some sort of hidden agenda.

However, he mentioned that shield and Tal hadn't revealed anything about the scene. Remember that shield has a new role now. He can't say anything about his old role. Maybe our mod could give some clarification as to what shield's previous role was.

Safari, all you just did was sum up what evil and I had already talked about...and then voted for me. Bandwagon much?

To go on what F1fth's suspicions are, who has been quiet lately? Here's the list I have. Squirrel was the most active earlier.

Fircoal
Iliad
Mr. Squirrel
VioIet

Everyone uses FoS differently, I tend to not use it much because I usually move from one person to another. I was presenting my take on the importance of FOS. It wasn't like i threw a one liner of "i agree with chaos" and went straight to the vote.

Swami Pravi say evilchaos is an evil mastermind

I'm thinking that it was either flavor or something to do with the original target's role (I'm still not sure if it is tal or not). I've never heard of day docs or day drivers, so I'm guessing that whoever was the original target has something to his role where actions against him get redirected. Its a possible role.
Talapus wrote:I would however like to put this out there and hope others agree. But, with a player in this game who gets 6 votes, it means there could be someone else with that ability. Scum or not, it doesn't matter because it is a serious power in this game. So, from this point on I think we all need to be careful with bandwagons and placing any more then 2 votes on a person at a time. Not paranoid so much, as I am concerned with someone else out there like that. They make the potential for an early hammer with no claim and start of early night very real at this point.

I'm sorry, but this is silly. First of all, the chances that there are two overpowered voters is very very slim. Second, if any player is stupid enough to drop six votes on a L-6 player, then the voter should be vigkilled that night. / would not have put such a strong role in the game without limitations (hence the name limited sextuple voter). My belief is that for any and all overpowered roles in this game, there are limitations put in place to restrain them.

Someone had asked how much experience I had, so in reply to that:

On CC, none. I am in this game and the South Park game.

In real life, just every once in a while with the basics: townies, a couple mafia, cop, doctor.

So, not a bunch of experience I guess. A lot of the terms and different settings for the games are new to me, so I'm learning just a little bit, but it's not that tough to catch on I feel like.

I had never even HEARD of mafia before CC... How the hell did you come across it?

Some people say they got to play it in school. That would be the SHIT!

I played in school and at church when I was younger. You designate a person to be a mod, then deal cards to assign roles to others. Aces are mafia, Kings are cops, Queens are doctors, Jacks are interrogators and the rest are town. You can assign roles to any card you want to or set it up, but then you just play it out right there. A game maybe takes 30-40 minutes depending on the amount of people.

Yea, I play a similar version to that with my RL friends nowadays. Our games are a bit shorter though (we give ourselves only 3 minutes to decide a lynch). Although occasionally I make them guinea pigs for a setup that I want to run with you guys. They get so confused when I make up new roles.

I've played it with my high school friends before. Let's just say that having a great poker face is a big asset, especially if you are mafia. And mods get quite creative with their death scenes.

Yeah, I've played in real life as well. I've found being able to quickly talk your way out a sticky situation is much more important. Also it's harder to read and find scum, as I found mostly people can mask their emotions, and it's more about either following the cop, or seeing who usually agrees with whom.

When I was in second grade, I learned how to play a game called Mystery, which is similar to Mafia. A detective and a murderer are randomly chosen amongst a small group of people (about 10). The detective goes around interviewing each person, and asking them for alibis. Each person is allowed to give their story. At any point in the game, the detective can ask someone "are you the murderer?"
And they have to answer truthfully, yes or no.
The detective is allowed to ask this question, three times in the game. If the detective gets the third no, they lose the game and the murderer wins. If the detective gets a yes answer at any point- detective wins. The others (town) are just there for the fun of it.

When I was in high school, I learned to play mafia in my theater class. The version i first learned is called the Stool Pigeon variant. I think its much harder, and I will try that variant here on the forums in my third modded game.

At my college bible study, I learned how to play Mafia, the way we play it here.

And yes, I know this post has nothing to do with the game, but i wanted to let the mod know i was here. I need to catch up on the thread.

I never played mafia in school but first heard of it from school.
I played a similar game called Murder in the Dark. In this game, even the mod gets to play because he only knows his own role. The mod deals out cards and whoever gets an ace is a killer. Then everyone gives their cards back to the mod, and they turn out the lights. the killers wander around and kill (by means of putting their finger up to the throat, so just mock killing) as many as they can before someone yells "murder in the dark!" when that happens then the lights come back on and everyone (who is alive) meets together and tries to decide who to lynch.
It's quite fun actually. Much different than mafia, although same genre of game.

Just a blanket posts to my mafia games. I'm really swamped with work at the moment, and am unable to do much else than jump on and quickly take my turns. This will probably be the case for the next 3 days or so. Sorry for my lack of activity over the last few days, and over the coming few days. I shall try to make it up to you with as much meat in my posts as possible.

Great discussions, but back to the task at hand.

Who is scum? I am not, although, a few are trying to make it seem a popular idea. I don't have any leads, so I'm not much help in that area I guess.

so far, you're the most suspicious of any of us, not only did you get us back on track from a side discussion, but you were also the one to get us sidetracked. And I have my doubts as to whether you're Mafia scum or not so that's why I didn't vote yet. But so far for right now you're the best lead we have.

Thank you. Sorry for creating that sidetrack.

The point of that was you're being very vocal about how you aren't scum. Like, a lot. I get the point if you say it once, but you seem like you're walking on eggshells and reminding us every post. Now I find that odd, but I do realize that's somewhat more important in the RL game where you can actually see each other (I too have played a RL variant). Still, worth noting. I was considering voting you for that but I'll just keep thinking about it and see what happens at this point.

Even in the real life variant it wouldn't be that important. Everyone should know that what you say as far as whether you are scum or not isn't true. Town will say they're town, and obviously scum will say they're town. People that are constantly saying "I'm not scum" in every post are usually scum.

What pcm means by that is that saying you're not scum doesn't hold much value because you're invisible on the internet. We can't try to read facial expressions or body language this way. The point is that everyone could say they're not scum, it's basically a useless phrase.

Wow, this threads activity is as scarce as the hired helps ability to be around when they are wanted. I find it odd that Vio had time to overshare her life story with us yet not contribute anything to these discussions besides hot air. But alas that is as it should be since it takes intelligent people to start intelligent discussions. And now that I have graced you with my presence and made an appearence the intelligent discussion can begin. But honestly I just don't feel up to it. Far to many of us seem to be quite and it makes it less enjoyable to verbally berate them if they aren't present. Perhaps I'll try again tomorrow.

This. I personally find it very odd that you need to reiterate to us that you're friendly and town so many times. Perhaps you are trying to convince yourself? It's day 1 and we don't really have anything solid as of yet, but we have to try something... And I think some pressure on you will not hurt.

Well, if no one will vote or pressure anyone, each night scum will just kill townies. Lynching is the main weapon of the town and you use it to get information from the scummiest or guilty players. As of now, pressuring you seems like the best avenue.

Well this is usually how Day 1 goes, someone get's pressured for a claim, he claims, then we decide whether to proceed with the lynch or not. You get good voting information that way. And if you're town, you really shouldn't have anything to fear.
