I believe that Harry and friends are probably the town, although if the death eaters taking the disguise of students means that some of the Mafia could be other students, Harry's friends could be mafia.

Skimming/forgetting what was in the opening post is a crime here? Who knew?
And what did I lie about? Do a topic search for "death eater" and see who has the first post with that phrase. I don't use topic search very much, and didn't realize that it only matches whole words.
Also, I thought that people were expected to make votes on little or no information at the beginning to get things rolling.

That said, given how readily (even gleefully) Filch helped Umbridge in Book 5, he is much more likely to lean anti-town than pro-town.
Maybe we should get him out of the way before he can do any damage.

I gotta be honest, I was trying to sit back and observe for a day to see if I could make any reads, but right now this big ass game is a little too big for me to wrap my head around.

Most of what I've gotten out of it is the discussion about whether Storr has a PR or not and how that relates to whether he is town or not. For what it's worth, I don't think he has a post restriction, but just trying to have fun by acting out his role. Which, you know, great if you want to have fun with it, but it kind of seems like a form of D1 softclaiming because we all expect the powers we may or may not posses to connect to the character in the book somehow which leads to debates about things whether a role is likely town, scum, 3rd party (anti-town or neutral), etc.

I think the storr-show is a distraction because, even if he is a squib, I'm not reading too much into it from a gameplay standpoint. Also, in a flavorful game such as this, I think it's reasonable to guess the mod may have given fakeclaims to help those a bit less familiar with the Harry Potter universe. I've read all the books and seen all the movies, but I've probably forgotten more than I remember. It's a complicated world.

Anyway, I've had thoughts about pressuring Storr because I don't know why he's volunteering information about his character, but then I'm not sure he's done anything scummy. He seems to be playing a little differently from the couple of games I've been in with him, but they were much smaller and did not have the flavor to play with. Or I'm just having trouble differentiating between his role-playing and his reads.

As for Storr, I assume that he must actually be Filch, or he's some form of scum and has been told to use Filch as a cover. If he was scum, it seems dangerous to draw so much attention to yourself right from the start. (or could it be a reverse psychology ploy?) If he's really Filch, then I would think he's kind of harmless, or at least not on the side of the death eaters. In any case, at this point, I see no reason to vote for him just because he's staying in character. (gives him a can of tuna for Mrs. Norris)

To be fair, I haven't been the only one who find it odd that someone who has read all the books and knows content (polyjuice references, telling people to read the books etc) would somehow be unaware of Death Eaters as a concept. Even if you had searched poorly (which is impressive enough in the opening scene post), you more than likely would have been aware of what the Death Eaters were as a group.

My point regarding storrs initial hinting at being Filch was your post after were you seemed to be setting up to push on storr by stating has anyone else claimed, fake or otherwise? it would have been fairly clear if not skimming that no one else had claimed and that storr had not actually claimed, it was simply being assumed.

I would find it somewhat peculiar though not out of the question that storr was given a fake claim, but i dont think it is likely that it would have been pushed as aggressively. As others have said, it may not even be a post restriction at all, maybe storr is just really hyped about flavor.

Filch was not a "good" guy in the book. More neutral/possibly bad.

This. To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if Storr had some kind of alignment-changing role - starting 3rd-party, becoming scum. Hence my vote, and my reasoning therefor.

I never said that I was unaware of Death Eaters as a concept - just that I was unaware that the mafia/scum here were called Death Eaters. The only other mafia game I played had no "Flavor" at all, so I was not expecting that they would be called something else, and that's what caught my attention in strikewolf's post. In my last game, someone outed himself by using the incorrect term to claim as vanilla townie, so I thought this might be something similar. Yes, I read the books and saw the movies, but I had to look up stuff like stink pellets and polyjuice potions.
