Well unless you're saying you're an Outer God or you know someone who is, I'm alone, have you seen the claims so far? Not a single person lines up with my wc, I count that as being alone in this war.

I don't see Rishaed as a main focus for today, his WC is stuck with them, doesn't mean he's able to carry it out into the night. He's only an option if we really want to test Safari (If he comes up as aligned to the Elder Things then Safari is clear). But I think for today we have bigger fish to fry. Namely these Elder Gods. Not just because they are in my WC, but because of what I mentioned earlier where they did NOT counter claim Ghostly. If you even had SOME interest in the town gaining the win, you'd be outing and taking out the Elder Things when they were around. But, as we've seen, they didn't even try to out Ghostly as a fake, which again leads me to believe THEY are the other killing faction and that THEY are the town's enemy.

I believe the cult died out with Strike Wolf. The "Black Brotherhood" sounds like a cult and after reading the scenes again since his death
this time they come across a man doing strange incantations while reading from a book

On his death he was reading from a book
The final Elder Thing of the group knew it had to keep the Necronomicon away from the waiting sealed Gods.

Now this is the most interesting scene by far. Remember what I said about dying if I visit an unsealed Elder God? This scene seems to suggest even the Elder Things were against them. If the Elder Gods is after the book of Necronomicon they are NOT on our side. That book is never used for the purpose of good.

Now, the latest scene is a dozy. The Elder Gods are searching for whomever holds the book, so I hope they realize the importance of that book and keeps it safe from them. But there's a "doctor" and another who can raise the dead, and right now there's a zombified person out there from the scene flavour. Obviously this is not for the good of the people since they did not out about it unless they weren't told themselves. Finally, the Nyarlathotep character seems to have driven a person to insanity.

With the above information, do people now understand the importance of finding these Elder Gods? Someone out there is against them as well if they're hiding the book from them so hopefully we find the Elder Gods before the Elder Gods find him.

I have an idea of who has the book, but of course, that wouldn't be to the advantage of anyone besides the Elder Gods to out that information.

"The Outer Gods are ruled by Azathoth, the Daemon Sultan, who holds court at the center of the universe. A group of Outer Gods dance rhythmically around Azathoth, in cadence to the piping of a demonic flute. Among the Outer Gods present at Azathoth's court are Tulzscha, The Green Flame, and possibly Shub-Niggurath, the Black Goat of the Woods. Yog-Sothoth, the All-in-One, co-rules with Azathoth and exists at all places and in all times in the cosmos, yet is somehow locked outside the mundane universe. Nyarlathotep, the Crawling Chaos, is the avatar and soul of the Outer Gods, and serves as an intermediary between the deities of the pantheon and their cults. He is the only Outer God to have a true personality, though he possesses a malign intellect and reveals a mocking contempt for his masters"

We know from the night scenes that these guys exhist. " A group of Outer Gods dance rhythmically around Azathoth, in cadence to the piping of a demonic flute"

They are not the good guys as far as humans are concerned and they are certainly the most powerful. I would hazard to guess that Comm and his crew are the outer Gods. I find it amusing that everyone is satisfied that with the explanation that they are "space aliens" but hey if that makes everyone feel good about them that's fine.

Does anyone find it coincidence that the player that have been made captive mind are Safari, Edocsil and Radion?? Why those three? It smells of veteran bias to me. lol. I do find it odd that safari and edocsil have not offered more input, Safs rational has been that he cant vote so he has nothing to add.

As far as the Shoggoth and Elder things....The Elder Things were orange while Shoggoth was purple. the Shogotth were created by the Elder Things and were their slaves/builders. They were not of the same faction but yet are related. I have the theory that the Shoggoth was a killing role akin to a serial killer. You would think that the Shoggoth would be working to serve the Elderthings...but not this game. With the Elderthings dead it would show that killing that faction was NOT a win condition for some other faction.

The opening scene speaks of the witch and her faction.
We may have a Mr. Shiny faction...IE shapeshifter.
We have a reanimator.

All this from the night scenes.

Jak, I am having trouble reconciling you suggesting that you are using your hiding to clear people of being Elder Gods with your claim and your victory being completely dependent on your survival. As a sole member of a survivoresc faction there is no result that you would risk your life for and you would only hide behind people who were already certain were not Elder Gods, right? Or do the secret parts of your role change all of this?

Iron, Comm9 already announced our race. If you care to read back to see it, I will let you since either you missed it, skimmed it, or ignored it. We are not Outer Gods, nor are we Elder Gods, nor are we gods at all. We checked those three because those are the ones that we picked for the night (except Safari, who is still a captive mind because I didnt send in an action tonight). Why would we stay in one body when we can effectively see (almost) everyone's role and use it to win the game sooner?

Your right, my apologies. You are the Great Race of Yith. Time Travelers, highly advanced minds...blah blah blah.

"The unique ability of this scientifically advanced race was to travel through time by swapping minds with creatures of another era. This allowed them to satisfy their interest in human culture, science, and occult beliefs. Occupied beings' minds transferred to Yithian bodies against their will; these "captive minds" were queried by skilled inquisitors while the Yithians using their bodies learned as much as possible about the societies in which they dwell"

I jumped the gun. I have gotten tired of the misinformation and went through the Night scenes to try and figure who is still out there.

So while we have the three Yith as a faction we also most definitely have the Outer Gods. They have appeared several times in the night scenes.

"The Outer Gods are ruled by Azathoth, the "Blind Idiot God", who holds court at the center of the universe. A group of Outer Gods dance rhythmically around Azathoth, in cadence to the piping of a demonic flute. Among the Outer Gods present at Azathoth's court are Lesser Outer Gods, the entities called "Ultimate Gods" in The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath, and possibly Shub-Niggurath, the "Black Goat of the Woods". Yog-Sothoth, the "All-in-One", co-rules with Azathoth and exists at all places and in all times in the cosmos, yet is somehow locked outside the mundane universe. Nyarlathotep, the "Crawling Chaos", is the avatar and soul of the Outer Gods, and serves as an intermediary between the deities of the pantheon and their cults. The only Outer God to have a true personality, Nyarlathotep possesses a malign intellect and reveals a mocking contempt for his masters.

The swarthy man...

In his first appearance in "Nyarlathotep", he is described as a "tall, swarthy man" who resembles an ancient Egyptian pharaoh.
Nyarlathotep differs from the other beings in a number of ways. Most of them are exiled to stars, like Yog-Sothoth and Hastur, or sleeping and dreaming like Cthulhu; Nyarlathotep, however, is active and frequently walks the Earth in the guise of a human being, usually a tall, slim, joyous man. He has "a thousand" other forms, most of these reputed to be maddeningly horrific. Most of the Outer Gods have their own cults serving them; Nyarlathotep seems to serve these cults and take care of their affairs in their absence. Most of them use strange alien languages, while Nyarlathotep uses human languages and can be mistaken for a human being. Most importantly, while the other Outer Gods and Great Old Ones are often described as mindless or unfathomable, rather than truly malevolent, Nyarlathotep delights in cruelty, is deceptive and manipulative, and even cultivates followers and uses propaganda to achieve his goals. In this regard, he is probably the most human-like among them.
Nyarlathotep enacts the will of the Outer Gods, and is their messenger, heart and soul; he is also a servant of Azathoth, his father,[5] whose wishes he immediately fulfills. Unlike the other Outer Gods, causing madness is more important and enjoyable than death and destruction to Nyarlathotep. It is suggested by some that he will destroy the human race and possibly the earth as well.[6]

Which leads us to...

The Black Brotherhood is a group of international terrorists dedicated to hastening the return of the Great Old Ones. The Brotherhood is made up of people from all ethnicities and walks of life, and, believing that the Old Ones will awaken soon, conduct covert operations, such as attempted political assassinations. Few of its members are taken alive for interrogation, however, as most die shortly after carrying out their operations.[1]

The Yith most assuredly have/had enemies.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_polyp

Flying Polyps or elder things were their mortal enemies who eventually defeat the Yith.

Kind of amazing how quickly the Elder Things were eliminated and one of their minions as well.

With Swifte being replaced finally, it wouldn't be nice to lynch his replacement off the bat, so I now turn my gaze toward Hippo, Vote Hippo

Also Iron B, for so much post on the storyline, perhaps you can explain why the Elder Gods are searching for the book? Why did the terrorist group protect the book from them? Do you think I'm their only enemy or the only enemy that will claim to be against them?

As far as I'm concerned, is they haven't outed a single one of themselves against me, which means they definitely aren't for the benefit of anybody but themselves.

From what we have so far the max Elder Gods that will exist among us is probably 3. So Rodion and RIshaed, with your votes against me, do you believe that I am false? Evidence is there that what I speak is the truth. Or perhaps you serve the Elder Gods? Either way, what are YOUR takes on them?

[quote="/"]Many unknown creatures converged that night, amphibious humanoids walked upon land, seeking the means to free their master, winged creatures flew in from the stars beyond, and some in the minds of mankind, unseen by physical senses.
Most notably, the former masters and creators of the Shoggoth spread their wing-like appendages on the surface for the first time since the last ice age, their cilia extend and search for their target, and in a blinding speed they fly through the air. A sleeping homeless man was their unfortunate target of choice tonight, they set upon him, their teeth blooming like flowers from their starfish-like heads.

Funny you should mention that Jak. I strongly suspect you are the role mentioned in the first sentence. You may be the singular "master" which is why the book is needed.

Winged creatures flying in from starts= Outer Gods
The Yith are mentioned as are the Elder Things

@doom- I am here to survive, if I am from the future, then why would I have enemies in a time period where I didnt exist?
@IB- I know that I had enemies in the book, but if you read the same wiki I did, they were left behind when I switched time periods.

Question to all of you, if I am able to possess 99% of the people in this game, then why would I also have a killing ability (that is, to directly kill my enemy) and 2 other teamates? Wouldnt that be just a little bit over powered?

My agenda is to survive without the Elder Gods. I wish I was the one being set free, it sounds like a powerful role. But let's put 2 and 2 together here. I die if I visit an UNSEALED Elder God, the scenes seem to suggest they are Sealed until they get their hands on that book.

So with that, the Elder Gods would be the ones who need the book bud. It's obvious from scene flavour that is the case here. Though Iron B, again, what are your take on the Elder Gods? I'm trying to find them and get them out of the way for my wc, but you and others seem hesitant to say what side you believe they are on. Why? They are not even trying to help town and it is apparent they have only one goal, what happens when they reach that goal? Does everyone lose? Just me? Or does it just make them into a cult (being able to resurrect the dead seems to add to the numbers does it not?)

I believe I know who's hands the book is in at the moment, but right now we need to protect them from the Elder Gods. I don't care what your personal motivation is at the moment. But they are keeping that book a secret for one reason and one reason only. They know it CANNOT fall into the wrong hands. Either open your eyes and see that or I must ask you, what is YOUR goal? I'm in interest of protecting that book from the wrong hands, who else will stand with me and agree with that? Or is everyone slowly being converted to their side? We can't let the Elder Gods get the book and you know it's true Iron Butterfly. So who do you read as an Elder God?

I agree with jak that the Elder Gods (if they are indeed in this game) CAN NOT get that book. If it's in the game, it is important enough to take into consideration. Now that we have a grasp on the motive behind the book being in the game, it's possible negativity must be prevented. I am willing to work with anyone so long as I see a benefit (AKA, most likely the fastest/easiest route to survival) and the person I am working with is not out to get me. I did not get anything from my PM that would suggest I am being hunted, although those who are hunted rarely get the luxury of knowing so.

The Elder Gods, in my opinion are not the bad guys as they oppose the Outer Gods and the old ones. If anything the Elder Gods can be described as ignoring human kind while not hating or wishing for their destruction.

The Black Society wanted the book to open the gates for the Old One/s as they were dedicated to bringing back and helping the Old ones.

The Outer Gods as we have already seen are recruiting/sacrificing/stealing souls...whatever you want to call it. The Swarthy figure is the recruiter for that faction.

"An ongoing theme in Lovecraft's work is the complete irrelevance of mankind in the face of the cosmic horrors that apparently exist in the universe, with Lovecraft constantly referring to the "Great Old Ones": a loose pantheon of ancient, powerful deities from space who once ruled the Earth and who have since fallen into a death-like sleep.[3]
Lovecraft named several of these deities; Azathoth, Cthulhu, Ghatanothoa, Shub-Niggurath, Yog-Sothoth, Nyarlathotep and Yig. With the exception of Cthulhu, the remainder of this loose pantheon apparently dwelled in deep space. Worshipped by deranged human cults, these beings are currently imprisoned (beneath the sea, inside the Earth, and in distant planetary systems) and apparently eagerly await the time of their release. Although Lovecraft did establish this premise in his 1928 short story, The Call of Cthulhu with reference to the eponymous creature, it was Derleth who applied the notion to all of the Great Old Ones."

Those who want the Elder Gods Killed are the Great Old Ones and the Outer Gods. what makes everything difficult is that alot of the mythos overlaps insofar as what motivates the deities for this game.

I would be curious as to who exactly should have the book?

Let's keep in mind that Lovecraft used Outer Gods, Old Ones, Elder Things, Great Old Ones, and Elder Gods pretty interchangeably. He never pinned down exactly who was who in the main works that he himself wrote. It was all pretty fluid. It was only until later on that other authors, who he was friends with, continued writing (after he died) in the universe that he had established that they pinned exactly who was "good" and who was "evil."

I dunno. The amount of "Gods" in this game is beginning to get confusing fast. That being said, I don't think ANY of the "Gods" should have the book. If any one has the book, please keep it to yourself.

Very true but the point I was trying to make was that all we have as reference is what has been conveyed in the night scenes. That is the reality for our game.

Jak has said that someone is sealed and that he dies if he visits them. I do not believe Jak is being forthcoming with all the relevant information. For me to consider letting him live I would want a full claim.

And considering how would an Elder God be "unsealed" up until this point it says that they are all sealed, meaning that either A they don't have any power or B. Are a character that requires a prerequisite to change the Role. Clututhu May be unsealed from the fact of Ghostly's lynch, however I don't see any NK's as a result of an Elder God. However Jak's desire to get rid of them is understandable.
