I can't find the answer to this question anywhere.

How do you know what happened in combat? After another player's turn, I see evidence that combat occurred (1 army in a country that has not fortified), but I don't know who attacked it or how much the attacker lost. Is there a recap of combat anywhere?

And is there a thread for noobs that expands on the FAQ page anywhere?

Check the game log to see if your oponnet put men on the territory that attacked you and then do the math.. That's all I can say. As of right now, it doesn't actually tell you there was combat..
