I'm interested to hear about some ridiculous loses or victories in games you thought you had won or lost as the case may be. I've never really experienced one, in close games I've always known if it could go either way. And in blowouts, its never swung the opposite way, the person dominating wins. let me kow and links to gmes if possible

about 6 months ago on a 6 player game, i was down to my last country with 1 army. im not sure why, and i guess ill never know, i was never attacked. the game was flate rate. i took my turns taking 1 country at a time. built my armies until i was able to get a continent and eventually win. i remember the country i had left was Ural. Sorry, its been a while and i dont have the link.

Thats amazing!
If you can remember 1 of the people you played against, you could do a search for it and really narrow it down. Plus any of the game settings would do this also.

Maybe you don't because such a game doesn't exist
When you search a standard/flat rate game on a map with Ural you find 6 games finished out of which you won 2 and you never had only 1 country.

looks like this is the link
http://www.conquerclub.com/game.php?game=24434
you see me getting smashed in the first 3 turns. I even attacked a neutral country at first. I took 1 country the next couple turns until I got cards and was able to attack Aussie. I held onto it and moved on to win the game.
I had 1 army left on Ural

I only saw you having 2 territories as the lowest

still coming back from having 2 territories is FUCKING AMAZING!

I have a fairly similar story than johnnyrocket.
Look at game 87325
It's not finished yet, but I am confident to finish it soon now.
I was down to 3 territories early in the game in central USA after a h eavy attack in the tropics, but also collected armies turn by turn until I was strong enough to take another player out and a continent.
The funny thing is that the game then went on and on passing the advantage from one player to the other without having explicit alliances and we are now in round 165, where it finally looks like I can bring the game home. Had they just taken me out early
Anyways, that is the most amazing game i was in up to know.

alrighty, i had 1 army on Ural and 1 on Siberia. I thought it was just 1 country.

I was down to three territories on Europe map once, the only reason I survived was because they were seperated into 2 and even then it took some alliance wrangling and such to come back. That was the first one.
Also game: 26963, Tamriel
For 15 rounds (20-35) I had no cards and didn't make a single attack. Down to 2 territories for most of it.

I was down to 1 one army on the USA map and won the game 2 turns later. Escalating though, so not as impressive as a flat rate comeback. A player knocked me down to 1 army. the next player tried to eliminate someone else in the middle of the map, since i was in the west. They failed. I turned my set, cleaned up the mess and ran the map. Took me an extra turn when the dice crapped out at the end of my move.

now that I think about it I was in a game where I had held Europe, but was pretty banged up. The remaining two playershad massive clashes going and in route to one of these one of them came right through me. It was freestyle and we were playing at the same time andI attack an adjacent territory just before I was attacked. His battle went badly and I lived on, turned in next turn and swept europe but couldn't fort it. The other two were too caught up to spend time on me, but I turned in again in a turn or two and crushed their broken forces easily.

in one game, i had about half of africa.
the rest was split up with one guy having south america, one in n america, 2 fighting over europe, one in australia, and asia wide open. i won that turn with only half of africa to start. i turned in cards 5 times.

Escalating game comebacks don't particularly impress me. Flat rate or (gulp) no cards do, as it shows you made a sequence of very good moves to win the game, whereas in escalating you usually come back easily by getting good cards.

by good cards you mean any combination?
its much harder to get good combo's in flat rate. i just wasted a game because my opponant fielded his 10 every 3 turns, where i was still waiting on my first super 10 combo. and lost the game

I don't bother waiting for 10s. I usually hand in the first set i can get. (Or is this bad tactics

)

My worst turn around was in a 3 player game in the british isles I held Ireland and lands end then went for a rampaging kill against 1 player and nearly made it got them down to isle of man and Galloway when my luck turned really bad and lost a lot of armies taking Galloway meaning I was unable to take isle of man then the other 2 players ganged up on me and wiped me out in 2 turns

I usually wait for tens unless it's an emergency.

Timing for handing in depends completely on the game. Generally I wait, so if needs be I can have three cards asap, needing to wait 3 turns can cost you the game. but there are exceptions, as always.

I was down to 4 armies after rd3 in a no cards game and somehow managed to come back and win. It came down to my last 2 armies vs 3 and I won.
Glad I fought to the end.

game # 101893
it wasn't me personally, but it was the other two in the game...one guy had the other down to two territories, and the other guy came back and won it...

No cards, I was down to two territories, and I won the game.. I think its mostly due to the fact that the other player did nothing about me building up armies.. yet, I'll still consider it a comeback, regardless of whether or not its because or my skill or my opponents lack of it(not saying that they weren't skilled, of course.. That would be mean).[/url]
