Sequential Games Query

Postby kevinc on Tue Mar 28, 2006 6:17 pm

Hi,

In sequential games does player 1 always go first, or is it random?

Thanks

It's always the same order, through and through I believe.

player number one is always red and always goes first.

unless you have made a greasemonkey script that makes you purple and go out of turn

if so, contact Troy, he will give you a knuckle sandwich for your troubles

Hrmm.

That really gives a huge advantage to someone who starts a game so.

It would be better if it was random.

Well, it doesn't give a huge advantage going first, some people say that if you go first in a sequential game you shouldn't attack becuase you are always attack countries with 3 armies on them. Whereas afterwards someone may have attacked and left themselves open somewhere, making it easier for the people going afterwards to gain cards in the first round (I think anyway :))

Making the starting person random would make it interesting, I'm not really sure, I tend to play freestyle games after my first sequential game still hasnt finished.

... and, if you go first in Sequential, you have to be careful - maybe avoid attacking for a turn here and there to avoid getting a card (escalating). If you attack and conquer every turn, you'll be the one with that pathetic first 4-army cash-in.

Finally I found the time to program an update to randomly decide who begins the round in sequential games. This should be more fair.

I think it will be a good addition. I've always prefered people rolling dice to see the order of turns though.

if it does it randomly, or randomly allows u to roll dice and compare, whats the difference? it would prob be a very similar code that does it, so it would be the same result..

I think this is a fair addition. Though I'm a converted former believer in the the "going first is a disadvantage" gospel.
