Joining Private games you weren't invited to

I and two others from the Dragoons joined game number 2,000,000 because I was able to guess the PW on my very first guess. Some might call it wrong, but if the PW is so obvious, was it wrong of me to do this, and than give the PW to fellow clan members so they could join. Does making the game truly give someone exclusive rights to that game if if it's PW protected with a ridiculously easy PW. If so, than I guess we are operating on an honor system of sorts that says don't join a private game if you're not invited even if you know or guess the PW.

No, their fault for having a stupid password. There are thousands of passwords you can use that no one can guess.

private games are just that, private. if you arent invited then dont even try to guess it...

It's a private game for a reason. It doesn't matter if you guess the password one time or a thousand times, it still means you have taken it upon yourself to hack into a game that wasn't intended for you. If the game was meant for anybody to join, then it would be set up as a public game PERIOD.

And to quote BENJIKAT IS DEAD (who quoted part of the instructions page)
Instructions wrote:Private Games

To play with a select group of people, the game creator may specify a private password and pass it out as desired.

You probably should have asked for an invite to join the game,
instead of crashing the party.

Since you are one of the invitees, I would say you are biased in this matter. I didn't hack into the game. Hacking would mean I somehow gained access to CC's servers, and stole the PW from there. I just got a lucky guess. That isn't hacking. The rule you quoted for private games does not prohibit people from trying to randomly guess PW's If the mods make it a rule, and put it in writing, I'll never try it again. If one were to join my private game uninvited, I would be more mad at myself for using a guessable PW than I would at the person who joined.

He made an earlier thread bragging about his internet connection, and saying only friends were invited. An invite would not have helped. Just trying to stoke the fires between clans. Go Dragoons

Private games

I think the clue is in the title of the game...isn't it?

Since you are the one that hacked the password

so yes, I use the term hacked, I would say you would be a little biased and are just trying to justify your means.

He didn't make the thread, he simply commented AFTER someone else stated that he was lucky enough to make the game. He didn't even brag. He just simply said he liked his internet connection. How is that bragging?

I did nothing in that definition of hacking. I used the available PW that was meant to enter the game. I didn't force the PW from CC's servers, I didn't rewrite code, I didn't steal the PW. I didn't circumvent the PW system in anyway. I entered the appropriate PW for the game, and got in.

Jamie, I have had this happen to one of my private games where someone who had been invited to another game, declined on the original game invitation because he was going away for the weekend, then came back early and found another game and guessed the password for that game and entered.

My reason for being miffed in that instance was that there are people who are invited specifically to private games for various reasons.

Where is your code of honour and good manners - have they gone out the door. Seems to me that you might have simply decided that you wanted to join the 2,000,000th game simply for the boasting element that you could do it by guessing the PW, and because it would elevate you in your peers eyes.

Have you no manners or decency!

Leave private games alone that you are not invited to.

And you can justify it all you like by whatever reason you come up with, but I say it is simply bad manners, poor form and i don't look upon you or any other who does the same as the great guesser that you think you might be.

You obviously didn't read the definition then. Let me bold the parts that go along with what you did, just so you can understand what I'm saying :D

You bypassed a security mechanism (the password), and you weren't given authorization (even tho you obtained it by hacking) to the game. Therefore you hacked. It's in plain english, but if you want it translated to another language so you can understand it more easily, I can do that for you  ;) :P

This is the same thing as when people join tournament games by guessing the password without signing up for the tournament. Thankfully, it's only happened to me once, but I bet it's happened to others.

i really don't care, because BenjicatMULTIisdead is involved in the game. who knows which rules apply to this guy anymore? if Benjicat is involved, anything goes, since the rules don't apply to him... if BenjicatBLAME-IT-ON-MY WIFEisdead were not involved, i would say it was a horrible thing to do.. however, since he is involved and was able to break one of the biggest CC rules out there, i just don't give an "F".-0

You used the same PW for two different games. Serves you right than. I never use the same PW for more than one game, nor do I use the same PW for more than one site. I know of someone who gave their PW out, but he used that same PW for every site he uses, so his treasonous friend snooped in his online journal, and emailed it to all his friends as a joke. He was trying to be funny, but it pretty much ruined the guys life. He moved away because of it. Alot of the PW's I use aren't even words, but a combination of random letters and numbers.

The people involved in the game are:

TheBro ( 93-0 )
Velvecarrots ( 66-0 )
The Fuzzy Pengui ( 122-1 )
Jamie ( 223-0 )
Uberwald ( 125-0 )
sherkaner ( 36-0 )

Benji was just stating his opinion ;)

Unauthorized perhaps. I did not however bypass anything. I used the correct PW to enter the game. For me to bypass, I would have had to enter the game without a PW by making the server think I had entered the right PW, or I would have had to have gained knowledge of the PW by hacking into a system somewhere. Guessing the PW, or being told the PW is not hacking.

I guess I could agree with your comments about bypassing...but there is a comma between unauthorized use and the rest of it...meaning 2 definitions. therefore, according to the first definition, you are a hacker

See, you assume too much....no i did not use the same password for two games, but they were similar. Obviously i have learnt my lesson.
But for bad manners and rudeness, have you learnt or do you understand that you actually offend people by your rude impolite behaviour no matter how you try to justify it?

Get your goddamn facts straight - I am not involved - it was created by a member of my clan that's all.
