how EXACTLY does one make a map? sure i know the idea comes first but does said person need some sort of map-making tool? does said person need to know xml? does said person need some sort of program to first make a blueprint, then make a 'forge' print, then make a 'final' print? or does said person simply suggest idea for map? If there is a set of tools for the everyday cc map-maker, what would they be? where would they find them?

just a lot of curiosity being vented... :P 8) :)

These are questions better posed in the Foundry. Ultimately, you can propose an idea in the Map Ideas forum, or you can go ahead and attempt one yourself. All you need is a semi-advanced to advanced image editing program, such as freeware like GIMP or, for $1000, Photoshop. All you do is you open up a new document, and then take your paintbrush tool and have a go at 'er!

There s two threads at the top of the map foundry,

"How to make a map handbook"

and

"Map making tools"

And a thread in foundry discussion

"XML tutorial"

Read all of them to get you started :)
