This is a purely a question for research purposes, it is not going to affect whether we play with cards or not.
Please vote to which you prefer.
Thank you for your time.

Sorry I just found that bit funny...
In answer to your question, it's a hard question to answer. In singles games I will only play with cards (of the escalating variety). In team games I prefer no cards although I also enjoy escalating.
So if you divide the two I'd say - singles cards and team games no cards.
But if I have to give a single answer I suppose it'd be cards

(but not flat rate)

Thanks for the input Ghengis.
This is the first of a series of research questions. At the moment we are just trying to get a broad outline picture. Once we have a reasonable sample, further questions with greater depth will follow.

Depends on my mood
In a freestyle speed esc cards are what make hte game exciting and fun. In a no card game thou, I personally fell that there is less of a luck influence. BUt hey, thats just me

For 2 player and team games, I prefer No Cards. In multi-player singles games, Escalating. Flat Rate is just dumb, in my opinion.

I think you forgot to add the 'myself' option... that seems like a fairly essential one in this poll.

no cards are too boring, but they are good for 1v1 or teams, but not multi team

It depends on the rest of the characteristics of that game.

Anything but flat rate really, not too even when a player gets a rainbow set with first 3 cards and other player gets a 4 set after 5 cards, especially in 1v1 games.

I prefer no cards. It takes more patience and calculation. and makes the game more fluid for me.
esc is about running the board and chaining cards. The first game I won was on the North American board with 8 folks. I won the game on turn 8.
red had some bad dice and I noticed he had 4 cards. I took him and three others out. The next turn I received 25 armies for all my territories..took out the next weakest and won that turn.
It was LUCK. I knew what to do but I was at the mercy of the dice and cards.

exactly right, escalating and no cards remove a significant amount (but not all) of the luck element.

I think quite the opposite. Have you ever played dubs when the the other team started out with a continent that could be easily fortified? Thats pretty much GG in no cards.

I like escalating cards, it feels so great to be able to steamroll everybody in one turn with multiple card sets.

LOL
Yes... but only if you have Wicked's avatar up on your screen.
I voted cards... though I like playing all different ways. It's more challenging... as you have to go from one game to another and adjust your stratgey based on the various options. I play a lot of World 2.1 games... but the strategy is so different based on card type, FOW, number of players, fortification etc.
