It was done once Lack realized what he was doing would take down the site temporarily. It wasn't planned, he was just trying to fix a database table.

How much you guys want to bet they won't cancel the two triples games I joined during the "outage" that it wouldn't let me drop....where I got stuck with 2 cooks on one and a cook and corporal on the other and I am up against a captain and major on the one with 2 cooks and a Lieutenant and C. 1st Class on the other?

If you had serious game issues b/c of the outage, fill out an eticket and we'll look at it. And by serious, I mean you joined and couldn't play, or something like that. Don't send in a game if you just missed a turn.

Yea, I created an eticket. I was just playing around trying to see what was up with the server, and I thought to join a game. At first it showed 2 games as awaiting players, but when I would click the link to view them so I could drop them, it disappeared. I didn't have any way I could drop them.

In retrospect, I probably should have just came back later because it was obvious something was up with the site. But at the time I started playing with it, I didnt know how much was busted and I didn't know I wouldn't be allowed to drop the game.

Sorry old chap, but if you're providing a paying service which is supposedly available 24x7x365, then decide to take it off air for a period of time with no notice and NOT EVEN AN APOLOGY, you have to expect people to be a tad upset. Even a simple announcement on the front page would have helped, but no, you just left us to wonder if the site had been hacked, or had suffered catastrophic failure as we appeared to have lost all our games. Then you respond on here in an informal and denigrating manner.

Treating your paying customers that way is at best high-handed, going towards unprofessional, and quite possibly ending up in contemptuous.

Please pass this up to the powers that be in CC, it ain't right.

If the games are gone, just log out and log back in, that seems to make them reappear. AND......you can't expect Lack to put up a warning when something goes wrong he didn't know was going to happen. If it was planned ahead, he always puts up a warning, but it isn't his fault if something goes wrong and he didn't know about it before it happens.

He's trying his best, doing far more than he should be expected to while on vacation actually. Calm down, if you miss a turn, or even accidentally deadbeat out of a game because of it, your life will go on, you won't lose sleep, and you won't be mocked by those around you.

If it's got to the point where a one man band can't service the needs of umpteen thousand members, then this shows he needs to employ someone else to help him. I work in IT so know all about apps and hardware breaking. What we do afterwards is look at what happened and why, and how long it took to fix. If any of those lines of inquiry show a lack of resource, well, you damn well get more people on it. If you don't, you lose business or ultimately the contract. Nobody should have to work whilst on a break, he's not got enough support if that's the case.

Conquer Club is a charging business, or did I miss something? If it's a freebie website that is paid for by sponsors (even Google or Multimap) then I'm not going to moan (the sponsors might), but as I've paid the folding green stuff I think I've got cause for complaint if the organisation is not up to scratch, compounded by admins etc being dismissive, on several occasions now. You guys ever heard of the word "sorry"?

Halmir,

You have made some very strong points and were spot on with many of them.

What I am sure you will understand that ConquerClub can still be defined as a small, but growing business. Growing a business organically takes time. Finding qualified staff and subsequent training is a slow process for a small business.

Paying members do deserve a quality product, and I know that this site has been delivering on that aspect in terms of service and performance.

Remember, even services like Facebook and RIM have had performance issues the past little while. Those are large companies with millions of dollars available to act on a dime and they still have problems.

The real problem ConquerClub faces is that it is constantly active. At any point during the day there could be hundreds of games being played. Therefore, any disruption at all will result in hundreds of people being upset. Most businesses don't have this problem. Most internet sites are static and less complex. Even facebook doesn't have to deal with real time games (apps are hosted off their servers).

So, bottom line is:

You are a paying member, so yes, you have a right to voice your concern. Rest assured that these issues are taken seriously and are reviewed just like in your IT department in order to come up plans. Just remember that CC is currently a small business and cannot just grab someone in the cubicle next door to help out. It takes more time.

--please do not reply below this line--

Sorry we can not end games that you joined accidentally in the future you should only join games that you actually want to play in.

Moz

Crap like this is why I will not be renewing my premium membership here.

I pay money to play here. It isn't a large sum of money, but it is money paid to a commercial site nonetheless, so I expect a certain level of professionalism. It's one thing for a site to have some unexplained hiccups, it's quite another to learn that some yoyo was monkeying with the database "live" that caused the headaches.

On top of that, I ask for some decent customer service to fix the problems their unprofessionalism caused, and I am met with more crappy customer service and half baked responses.

I DIDN'T JOIN THE GAME ACCIDENTALLY. I was trying to figure out what was broken with the idea I'd send you messages about the problem.

Just cancel the damn games, it isn't that hard to do. Do you care about your customers at all?
