I've heard it mentioned around the forums...

Of course you don't want to upgrade instantly...

Look at the new users of Vista for example...

don't mess with the yeti! he is in the CC Hall of Fame, and you are not. when it is time, the switch will be made. if you look at some of the forums springing up, that thing is still pretty buggy (as are most things NON-mac, ahem...). patience...-0

now that was funny... man after my own heart.. ha... however, the admins are mega-cool!! but for instance:

phpBB3 dudes wrote:As has been stated in every release announcement, no support will be provided for updating from phpBB3 beta versions to phpBB3 RC1 or higher. You were warned that beta software is meant only for testing and should not be used in a live environment so please do not ask. As support for the betas has been discontinued, we recommend that everyone using a phpBB3 beta removes the installation and installs a fresh copy of 3.0.0 instead.

If you would like to convert your phpBB 2.0.x installation to phpBB 3.0.0, please use the converter included in the phpBB 3.0.0 package. Detailed instructions for converting can be found here

yeah, but they do give support for upgrades from phpBB2.x..its only the Beta versions they don't support

And we both know what type of people use Beta versions and expect them to work after the full release version :P

I think I might have misworded my last post too..I didn't mean the admins at the phpBB site..nicest bunch of blokes out, I was refering to people who own a website and think it'll be cool to run a forum without any knowledge on how to properly set it up

Anyways - I'm pretty sure that PHPBB3 is on the to-do list...

i'm sure it's right up there on yeti's list with, a) fabricate evidence against
TeeGee to get him banned from the site for life...

all joking aside, back to the question at hand. i still maintain the huge lag in the crossover is due to PHPBB3 sounding like some horrible strain of turtle herpes, and lack is just terrified to open himself up to something like that, until he is 100% sure, he will be ok...-0

Lack is working hard at it, but he wants it just right. Give him a little more time, trust me, it will be worth it when he gets it all polished and shiny for us.

I4d like to see some changes to the forums though.. I think upgrading to phpBB 3.0 would be a good idea.. lot's of advantages
Also on the index of the forum, you see a huge list of users who are online, don't think we need that ;p

phpBB3.0 is the upgrade that Lack is currently working on. Thing is, our forums are not just standard phpBB forums, Lack has made many modifications to the code to do things he wants done. So, now he has to make those modifications to the new code as well and make sure it works all nice and dandy for us first. :)
