Does This happen to anyone?

So in a related vein. Let's say you have 30 armies. And one player has 5 territories with 12 armies total. So you decide to attack him/her to get their cards. So you start and now your down to one territory with 4 armies and you have 15 left. So here it is, they whittle you down to 4 they have one and you lose out. They have one territory with one army. So you blew your army and someone else gets the cards you tried to get. It seems to happen to me about every 4 games or so.
I was just wondering if this happens to anyone else? Just so I don't feel so all alone.
