Missing Turns : It is abused and shouldn't be rewarded!

I am playing between 40 and 60 games at a time. I see that all to often people miss turn, I think that although this was changed from getting double armies at the start of ones turn to being deferred after an attack was made its still not right. Think of it as sitting around a table. You wait till the person takes their turn period! Since we don't have that luxury on here, I suggest rules are changed again. IF YOU MISS, you get absolutly nothing! It is bad enough the other players in the game having to wait, but for there to be any benefit to the cheater that misses a turn is absurd.
I have played over 200 games on here and have never missed a turn in any game I am in. I wouldn't feel right missing a turn (cheating in my book) only to go on to win a game. I would appreciate hearing others feelings on this.

This has been discussed to death. There are legit reasons to miss turns, so no, we're not going to punish people whose power goes out, or they have a family emergency, or any other reason real life gets in the way of this GAME. Kudos to you for never having to miss a turn yet. We've taken the "surprise" element out of coming back with more armies, but we're not going to punish people for things out of their control.

I agree. I think though that games should have an option for turn time limit. So it can be increased to 48 hours.

for some people it is not as easy as that

i have missed turns, even tought i usually check several times a day and if my internet goes down i get my brother who is at UNi to take my turns, but it still happens. I think u should get your normal amount and then half (rounded up) deferred

e.g

3 at start and 2 at end

or

6 at start 3 at end

No problem you miss a turn you get nothing, whats punishment about that? Right now there is a reward element. I realize people have lives but what is wrong with getting nothing?

If forum was organized with important topics like what I am talking about, if wouldn't have to be beat to death. Or atleast people could find the thread and know it had been beat to death! These forums are lame, and people ramble and nothing gets done!

P.S There may as well not be a search funtion, I have high speed internet and have never got a search to complete.

How is it any different from them getting the armies the turn before? Either way they are getting the same amount. So why are you crying? I've never understood this. I miss turns all the time. Guess what, I manage a casino and therefor on call. Guess what son, my 85$/h is more important to me then a GAME. So sometimes I have to work late, or early, or long, and then I want to sleep after, or before, or during. ^^ That's life.

Could someone explain how missing a turn could possibly be beneficial?

The fact that not being able to play puts you at a disadvantage? The other people have gotten a card, armies for their territories and the ability to attack others.

I recently played a game where my friend missed one turn at the end, and basically lost all chance at winning. Missing a turn is not something people do to get an advantage. Because you don't actually get an advantage. (Except for the first round of speedgames, but that's 5 min waiting so stop bitchin)

They really do.

I'm afraid that this topic has been discussed to death already. If you really want to understand why things are the way they currently are, then go dig up some of the threads about it in suggestions (which contain all the answers to your 'points'). The current skipped-go regime is the best (and fairest) CC has ever had, and your arguments have all been answered many many times before.

Basically, you're just not going to win this one, everybody 'gets' your points, but we don't just agree. There are better reasons for having the system in place than for scrapping it. Sorry you weren't around to see that discussion take place, but I'm afraid that the issue is settled, and there's good reasons for it being settled in the fashio n that it is.

Now please, for the love of all things sacred, let this thread die before this ancient argument rears its ugly head once more.

It comes down to this

Lacks a good guy. He set it up for casual players to be able to play once every 24 hours. He also doesnt want to punish a player if they have an emergency.

It is possible on rare occasions to gain by missing a turn, but purposefully missing a turn works very rarely from what ive seen. In my 2500 games, which is slightly more than the posters 200, I have had no problem with people missing turns. Ive always known they missed, ive had an oportunity to plan for it, and it is very rare that it has changed the outcome of the game. Now that the rules have been changed, that is even more the case.

The important thing is, missing 3 turns is allowed, ie part of rules, and therefore not cheating. As you play, you just have to be aware of this and play accordingly. If you are unable to plan your strategy around this fact in the few games that it will actually happen, you may lose.

Its a game of war, and sneak attacks happen all the time. Plan for it, and more importantly, have fun with it. Theres nothing more satisfying than beating someone who looks for tricks to win. :D
