not sure where to put this, but is anybody else having trouble with the waterloo map?

A lot of stuff seems either not explained or explained poorly. For example, apparently you cannot fort armies from artillary positions. Once they are there, they stay. Also, apparently they cannot attack neighboring areas -- or even nearby ones. The key says anywhere on your side of [boundary].

Is it supposed to be that way or am I just doing something wrong?

it is clearly explained at the top of the map that artileries can only bombard and can only do so to certain territories. have a good read before u take another turn :D

I fully understand bombardments, but it does NOT say that once your armies are there, they are stuck -- that you cannot fort them off.

Also, it does not state that you cannot attack adjacent areas. It says that you can attack ANY area on your side of the road.

you're concern / question is a valid one.

I brought up this issue in the map thread. Either the instructions need to be changed that these territories can ONLY bombard the territories that the legend explains, or it could just be an XML issue where that needs to be fixed so they can attack the adjacent territories.

The idea is that Artillery is a Bombardment only device - They cannot go and attack the territories next to them because they only have ramming rods - which infantry or cavalry will easily be able to defend against...

Also - if you think about it - you shouldn't be able to turn Artillery men into Cavalry or Infantry men... they don't have the equipment...

That you can do this with the Cavalry and Infantry is something that has to be lived with.

Each Army type has a specific purpose in this map.

waterloo .. continued. (thank you)

Yeti, I do not have a problem with having varied attacks. However, this needs to be explained in the legend. Right now these things are not. However, from edbeard's response, I gather this issue will be fixed.

Another issue, less critical perhaps is that I (and I know others as well) have found it particularly difficult to find out who is where. The explanations for what exactly consititutes a farm are quite unclear and I find the naming in general to be rather confusing .. even after playing 4 games. I know that is not a huge number, but its enough that I should at least know the labels.

Anyway, thank you for your attention!
