the biggest tip i can give a new player is always remember the order.....watch on the other team and try and figure out their next move and try to counter it keeping in mind the attack order......things of that nature ......... and yes fort your pals...remember that it isn't always necessary to gain a bunch of bonuses either...most team games can be won with only one or two bonuses...(excluding really large maps like world) always keep an eye on your pals...and in team games it's a huge help to eliminate someone... so if you see an opportunity to eliminate someone go for it......sometimes this is the only way to get back into a game when you have no bonus and the other team seems to dominate....but if you can kill someone you can shift the game back into your favor! that's all i got for now lol

If you can, read the feedback (negs and neutral comments) before joining on anyone's team. Watch for "poor teammate" comments and avoid those folks.

Also look in the player's game records to see how often they win at that map and how many team games they have won (do a game search on the person's name and the game type in question, rather than trying to page through their game history unless its a short history).

In addition, I usually avoid games with folks who have more than 20 negatives .. with only a few exceptions. Folks don't generally get that many negs unless they are fairly nasty to other players. (though you have to also consider who wrote the feedback... and how much time has elapsed since they got the negs)

Try to team up with nice & experienced individuals at first. They will help you and, at a minimum, are less likely to throw tantrums if you lose or just goof.

Avoid joining a game that high ranked players have rigged for points. AKA, if three high ranked players have started a triples game, let them sit there doing nothing forever, don't join it.

If you aren't brining two of your buddies who have played the map dozens of times and are great players, then why feed them points at your expense when they have so clearly arranged to have the advantage of knowing their teammates and the map while you end up with some random people.

Dig through the available games and find something with a nice mix of players. I always like to see a game where the first team hasn't filled up yet, as that tends to mean that the maker didn't arrange to fill it with his/her buddies.

Not always true - but can often be...

I made a load of games a while back - and the first team fills - then it sits there for a while half full...

And I didn't organise any teams on it.
