4 player is iffy in this example, because with 4 players it takes longer for cards to be worth something..
If this was 6-8 players and I did get Australia for some reason (because for sure I wouldn't be trying to get it and knock myself out in the process!) but ok, suppose the drop gave me 3 territories in Oceania and I ended up with it, then I'd still try my hardest NOT to get wiped out in OTHER corners of the map. Suppose I also had a territory in North America for example, then I'd try my damnedest to hold on to it; more so even than trying to hold Australia, though the issue is that no matter how you look at it you're committed to Australia and if you leave not enough guys on Siam then some idiot cookie is going to knock himself out getting Australia and greatly reduce your chances in the process.
So:
1. Keep a presence in other areas.
2. Don't defend only in Siam because the first idiot cookie or newbie with some cards is going to root you out of it. Better to then defend in China and India, because then at least you will have one or the other left if someone kamikazes on Australia. It helps sort of understanding who your neighbours are there as well.. if they're a bit experienced then the chance of them kamikazeing on Oz is less.
Alex..? Alexander the Great, my Commander, what's wrong? Did someone leave you negative feedback again?
