Conquer Club

So DiM has been debating that the reason most people are on CC is to reach #1 on the scoreboard, and if #1 is too high they'll just leave. Meanwhile, I've been saying that people are at Conquer Club for the fun that the games can offer, and the points and ranking system is just a nice feature at determining other people's skill level. What are your thoughts?

I'm here to have fun. Of course, you can tell that from my score. Of course I try to get a high-rank, but that isn't my main goal. I'm here to have fun first and foremost, and have a good rank later.

i have several people on my ignore list that have stated and shown that they will do anything and say anything to win

I think you're making an illogical leap here, that the priorities of new layers are the same as those of longstanding members of CC - I certainly play for fun now, but when I first joined (back in the day...) it was certainly nice to see that if I just won another 10 straight 6 player games, I could shoot to the top of the scoreboard

Nowadays of course I have enough points that would have probably out me on the first page all that time ago, but now play mostly for fun (1vs1's and clan games, etc)

I play for both, but I mainly play to beat my friends, and laugh in their faces. (like that happens often. )

anyway, I play for both goals. Winning is fun, but even if I wasn't, I'll still play.

ooo goals, i forgot all about those! my current goal is to rise above 50% win percentage, ive been working at it and started at like 38% with 120 games completed so im doing good but i had fun the whole time i did it!

Winning is fun..... So it's not really correct to say you like to win and don't care about fun, or vice versa.

ya, my goals are more to reach captain and be ahead of most or all of my friends. Sadly I'm at the lower end right now.

I consider it fun to kill opponents with no mercy and to awarded points n a ranking based system is icing on the cake, sweet, sweet addictive icing.

I fear those players who still go out of their way for that extra wank.

Uhm... I play to win ofcourse. But really, that doesn't mean I can't have fun. It doesn't matter much if I lose, it's still fun to play.

I play to win..Nothing else is fun..How can u say losing is fun...Now i can say that if i lose sure i still had a good laugh in most games i play..But my main objective is to win..Not become the best or anything but I always play to win..Also many a games have I played where some dumbass player does some suicidal shit on me and then says it's just a game..U are the worse kinda players

Do you realise the irony in that statement, they are "players" i.e they are playing. Conquerclub isn't meant to be life, all it is is just people "playing" an online game and its meant to be for fun. When people become too competitive it ruins the concept of a game and just adds stress. Life is stressful enough without adding even more stress on a game website.

Well rank is not overly important to me because I let my room-mates play often on my account. That said they lose alot of games so I'm continualy held humble as far as rank is concerned (I havent the time to win 1 game for every 3 they lose). That brings me to fun, I dominate almost every game I play so I do have alot of fun pitting people against each other and getting inside their heads.

I play to win, but rank is not that important to me, it is just nice to get.

I play at CC because I love board games and the community.

I always want to win but some games are just too good not to join. Like a doodle earth assassin with 7 players in. But beating Fircoal is the best no matter how points are involved.

I think he was referring to people that suicide for no apparent reason...

I'm playing strictly to get to #1, but i do play a few games just for fun every now and then.

It's been said a few times already but I'll add a new variant.

I have the most fun when I manage to be better than the other players, either tactically or diplomatically, and prove this by winning the game.

winning and fun are both important


I can speak truth that most people who are very competitive in games or athletic in sports, love to win, and have fun.


but there is not a lot of fun if you are losing often, i think that is fair to say in any game or sport.

i just think this sorta debate is silly.....every person has fun in a different way.....it's fun for me to win games and gain points.....so i would say i play for fun....never understood this....

it all depends on your definition of fun.

i enjoy the game so i play it but i also like to gain points to climb the scoreboard too
