I was a great player on the board game, but have a heck of a time on here.
Does anyone else think that you should get to place your armies after all the countries are picked? I think its very hard to take countries that have 3 on them, when your attacking with 6, especially when you get crappy dice. This leads to desperation on my part if I lose such a battle and I end up attacking 3 against 3 to get my card. Any thoughts on this appreciated.
Thanks Future Cook.... LOL

All I have to say is, it hapens, hell, you can lose 8 to 1 3 games in a row (happens to me from time to time). But you get used to it (somewhat anyways).

I used to do the same as you, attacking 3 on 3 just to get a card. It really isn't worth it. You don't know what cards you are going to get and, if you're playing flat rate, taking a card first round might just be leading to a set of red from five cards. Missing that first card may actually give you a better set earlier.

If you lose 2 on the first roll take a deep breath and end the attack. Try to gather some forces together and, with the deployment, you should have 8 to attack with on the second round.

Not getting a card on the first round really isn't that big a deal.

It would take too long to start games.

Not really. One extra day. When everyone joins the game, there is a round 0 in which everyone can "play". They see their countries, and the color of the owner of all other countries. After a single turn in Round 0, everyone should be theoretically placed, and the board is revealed as usual/the game is played as usual.

As for missing your turn on this first round, you still keep all your countries, but they only have one on it. You get your "initial" troops on your next turn with no modifier attached.

[/random idea]

Try attacking once, if you win, try again, otherwise stop.
