Someone told me that speed games have changed. According to him if you eliminate a player you get extra time added to carry on. Was he just trying to get me to join or is this true?

Yes, you get extra time (2.5 mins I think) every time you eliminate a player

If you eliminate someone in a speed game you get an additional 2.5 minutes to finish your turn.
