the 5th position

I haven't played that many games yet, I look for ones that are close to full (for several reasons) so I wind up in the 5th spot alot. Three times so far I've noticed that someone who joined ahead of me has dropped the game and restarted it. It appears to me that the 5th position in a 6 player game is a coveted position. (but perhaps its my imagination)
Would I be correct in guessing that the 5th person goes first more often than not? Its the only reason I can think of why someone would do that.
thanks :D

there is a lot more than 5 positions
oh you are talking about risk

going 5th, 3rd, 6th, 1st, dont matter, all random, some may have dropped out waiting for a friend to join or someone they invited

that very well may be, but just to test my theory, I dropped that game (that someone else dropped to get 5th position)and resigned up to regain my 5th position and sure enough, I went first. So even if you say its randon (i'll have to keep track) right now, it doesn't look like it.

p.s. I don't CARE if i go first or not. But knowing (if true) that the 5th person usually goes first, is some info that may come in handy. :D

it's completely random, just like the dice and cards

if you say so, but this is what I just did Picked a random persons profile, hit the show all games, picked out 5 games with 6 players and wrote down who started the game. Then I picked a new person from the last game to start the whole process over again. I only checked a total of 100 games but this is what I got as a percentage for starting the game. Position#1 6% : Position#2 8% : Position#3 4%
Position#4 16% : Position#5 18% Position#6 26%

I'm not sayin its not random, I'm just saying what I did. :)

ok, I missed a bunch I jotted down, but counted them into the 100, I'll try that again when I'm awake.

Interesting number Doc. Pull another hundred if you get a chance, just to doubel check. I must say, each of them getting exactly their statistical fair share would surprise me more then the numbers you found. Just like if you flipped a coin 100 times, I would be really surprised if the number of times the total was exactly fifty percent was more then three or four.

It wouldn't surprise me if some people were aiming for a number because they like the color however, or perhaps they have a little superstition about it...

ok, now THAT makes sense. Thanks.

and I plan on doing another couple 100 in the next few days, just to see what happens.

Maybe they think you're a bad player. In escalating games, it can be very advantageous to follow a poor player, because they often wind up trying to kill someone without enough strength to do it, or just wildly attacking, so you can clean up after them and win.

hey, thanks alot lol. But I haven't finished enough games for someone to make that determination yet.

Hey Doc,

You forget, a lot of the people here assume bad-player status, simply because you are new. Luckily we both know what happens when you assume!

:C)
